Is there a dress code for DCL?

I have only been on one cruise and that was the Queen Mary 2 going across the Atlantic. They had a dress code for dinner in the dining room. What is appropriate dress for a Disney cruise for different events/meals?

DCL's dress code for the main dining rooms can be summed up thusly: Anything goes except swimsuits, underwear or no clothes at all. You'll see everything else on the spectrum.

The specialty restaurants have slightly more stringent dress codes.

The dress code for the main dining rooms is pretty relaxed. Pretty much anything except for bathing suits. Longer cruises have formal and semi-formal nights designated, but it is optional to participate. You won't be turned away if you choose casual clothes on those nights. The adult restaurants, Palo and Remy, have stricter dress codes.

Here's a link to the DCL packing list... suggested dress is on there

I love this for the cruise packing list:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Themed Nights – On 7-night sailings and longer cruises, the ship offers themed nights—including a formal night—and you're encouraged to dress up and participate in the evening's festivities.
Check the DCL Navigator App to find attire advice for each night's dinner.

EXCEPT you can't check the DCL Navigator App until after you board! Not very helpful for a cruise packing list of suggestions!

The only "dress code" for the Main Dining Rooms is "no swimwear or tank tops for dinner". Palo and Remy have their own dress codes.

In my experience cruising on DCL, most people tend to wear cruise casual to the dining rooms at dinner. That is a little nicer than jeans and t-shirts, but nothing fancy. As others have indicated, DCL does not have strict rules enforcing this- it's simply what I've noticed as the norm during the several cruises we've been on in the past 5 years.

On formal night or optional dress-up night, some people will dress up more, but others won't. You can check recent Navigators to figure out which types of cruises offer formal/optional dress-up nights and which do not. The Dream always offers them. The other ships vary in their offerings based on how long the cruise is.
