After our day at AK, we wanted to head over to DTD for dinner. Just wondering if there is a bus that goes there from the park or do we have to go back to our resort, POFQ and use the boat?

Oh man, that is what I thought. Ok well that means I will have to leave AK earlier. The kids cannot handle eating dinner too late. Either that or I can book Yak and Yeti and then head to DTD later. :confused3

You could in theory catch which ever bus is boarding at the bus station. It doesn't have to be one that you are staying at. I would caution against the Magic Kingdom resorts however, there is a lot of driving around the MK parking lot to get back on your way. If you can get to Animal Kingdom Lodge, that would be ideal since the bus is a direct shot to Disney Springs.

The other option would to be to take a cab or use Uber to complete the transfer.

I did not think of that. I have never used Uber, is it much cheaper than taking a cab?

It can be. usually if you sign up a feew days in advance of when you need it, your first Uber ride is free anyway, so there is that.
Tom Bricker did a comparison on the Disney Tourist Blog site he runs. There are some things to be aware of, mainly that the drivers are a type of contract driver under Uber, so they may not be covered the same insurance wise if something were to happen vs. a traditional cab company. You also need to have access to a smart device with the app installed to hail a driver. Once the ride is complete the money is auto withdrawn from your account so you don't need to settle with the driver.

They did test an AK straight to DTD bus for awhile. I think it started around 3 pm, one way only. I think they were thinking they were losing some dollars from folks leaving AK mid afternoon, then heading off property to eat or just back to hotel to pool (which makes them no money). Bus was keeping them in the spend mode. Guess it wasn't a hit.

I'd recommend heading to AKL then taking the bus from there. That's what I did my last trip to get to T-rex from AK.
