I want more points... we aren't going to but the thought of adding on and getting a cruise is just consuming my days... I am dreaming about spending my add on points in my head.

Is there a cure :lmao: When the next promo comes I will just start dreaming about that one...

I know most of you have the same issue... so who has it?

My pocketbook has cured mine. Quite quickly and successfully, I might add.

I have it, and we have only gone on one DVC vacation so far since buyin. I want more points to be able to take family members with us and be able to book two bedrooms.

However, I remind myself that I am a SAHM currently working on my Master's degree. I'll be done in a year and a half and hoepfully will find a job, and then once more income is coming in, then we can add points........

Until then, for the next 2 years at least, a studio or 1 bedroom will have to do. And my in-laws if they do happen to come with us int he next year and a half, must respectfully take the pull-out couch or book their own room.

Oh ya we have!! And we just bought another contract to add more points and allready talking about when / and where we will buy next!!

Generally when it's time to pay-up for yearly maintenance, that usually cools my jets for wanting more points.

Yes, it's called a calculator. ;)

(add-on points X cost per point) + (add-on points X annual dues per point X years of membership = 1 heck of a lot more than a cruise would cost you.

The only cure I've found is when you get to the point of having more points then your allocated vacation weeks per year can use up.

I completely agree that money may be the only cure... because that gets DH to not even think I am serious when I say ADD ON...

But I can't get my mind to stop thinking.... maybe I need unsbcribe to the DVC picture thread... the pictures are so nice it is like a drug to me :hippie:

IT is sooooooooooo hard. We added on last Aug. and we had not even owned but 1 year and 8 months at that point. :rotfl: However now.....with one going off to college and another one in high school....it helps me realize that adding on is probably not the smartest things for us to do any time soon. However....I think when we do another add on...it will be in small contracts of 25 at a time. Kinda like a nice treat. When I break it down into smaller chunks like that...it doesn't seem so bad to add on. :rotfl: It seems more doable that way. :thumbsup2

There is a cure. It's called monthly dues debit from your bank account. Especially when you add up all the months and find out you are paying over $2600 a year in dues. Then you sell contracts as well.

I think our last add-on at VGC should have us cured for quite a while, but we've been waiting a long time for that one. The cruise was just an added bonus since our family has been booked since last March.

Once again ... y'all have me humming Diana Ross' Love Hangover:
If theres a cure for this
I don't want it
Don't want it
If theres a remedy
Ill run from it
From it

Think about it all the time
Never let it out of my mind ....

Yes, I opened the thread thinking that a cure had been found, posted and discussed!

There was a cure for me after 4 add-ons. It was the dues bill arriving in January. That openned my eyes. Of course a really good incentive could sway me to buy some points at BLT, but I've not seen any incentives I'm interested in yet. I would in turn give up a couple of my BWV add on to offset it.

I would say that the current state of the economy has pretty well dampened any thoughts of add-ons.

I found that adding-on will actual cure add-onitis, at least it has for me for the last 24 hours. :rolleyes1 We just finished doing a small add on at VWL so that with banking and borrowing we can spend every third Christmas in a studio at VWL. :yay: My original purchase only successfully delayed add-onitis for a couple weeks, so I do not think the cure is permanent.:sad2:

If... the current state of the stock market, the current state of corporate America and the current state of the world in general isnt enough to cure add-on-itis then I would suggest looking at your bank statement closely and check your interest rate and year to date return, look at your 401k's and IRA and check the profit/loss over the past year (or two) as well as debits to your account for dues over the past few years and then look back at your past few years vacation budgets.

If those arent enough to ward off a case of add-on-itis then there is no cure for you!

For me it's been a combination of a layoff and thanks to DVC the new point re-allocation and price increases have diminished the pixie dust. So overall I guess you could say it's an economic cure.

Jeez...after all of that, I might wanna jump off a cliff, let alone not add-on!!
