Is there a cat coming off the Mine Train?

Has anyone ever seen this? There was a gray cat with it's back facing us as we walked off the coaster in front of the house. We only saw it once. Our family of 4 was torn as to id it was real or animatronic...but we never saw it again. Every time we walked by, we checked.

We saw one at Indiana Jones two weeks ago. We saw it a couple of times at night before the Star Works fireworks. Maybe the legend is true. The cats come out to control the mice population.

Well, when we were leaving Mouse Gears on NYE, we saw a giant rat run past our feet. We assumed it was Mickey's evil twin.

We saw a healthy sized rat one year while playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, at the portal that is on the side of the building kind of between Hall of Presidents and Columbia Harbor House. There are some fake crates there on one side, and a cellar door on the other. The rat had a hole by the cellar door, and kept running back and forth between those fake crates, and the hole. We named that portal the rat portal, a name that has stuck to this day lol. I suspect Disney is a very fertile hunting ground for cats.

There is actually a large feral cat population all over the parks. I read about it in a 'little known facts about Disney' article a while back. It helps keep the rodent population down.

Feral cat population is really only at Disneyland. I'm sure a few have found their way to Disney World but at Disneyland they participate in a TNR program, have shelters built in, and even feed the cats to make sure they aren't starving. Disney World has a ton of critters lurking about. When I was a CM and park clearing my coworker stepped on something that squeaked and ran away. It was massive! We tried to convince ourselves that it a cute rabbit but we both new it was a rat. They usually stay hidden during park hours but some get way too comfortable with people and then they have to be taken care of.

I have heard the shop by Splash Mountain is the worst for animal activity.

Rat encounters are a common occurrence around the World Showcase Lagoon at night, even during park hours. And they're not the cute little mice, they're large rats.

Seen a few at AKL out on the savannah at night too.

They should totally make a movie about the wild animals living on Disney property, and the shenanigans they get in to after-hours.

I will never forget on the EMH at Epcot on July 4, 2015 - the park was surprisingly empty and me and my sister were walking back by Figment when we had this giant ran walk past us. It wouldn't have made us look twice but this thing was so big we were debating on if it was a nutria or not. (I still think that it was) The CM that was nearby tried telling us that it was a beaver!

We also see the cats at 7DMT, especially when the park first opens, at the cottage in the scenery when you exit the ride. I have a feeling CMs probably interact with the cats at that particular location because they were really friendly to the family who picked them up and were petting them.

disneyland yes, but I've seen recently interviews that clarified it was not at wdw. although it sounds like that might have changed...

this might actually explain why my allergies are so bad there lately, I'm like peanut allergy allergic to cats..

We saw several of the DL cats during our trip. The staff at the Resort told us about how they spay and feed them. I thought it was pretty awesome.

Yes! Gray with crossed eyes? We saw him there on Sunday. A cast member said they call him Derpy. That's his hang out area.

I have to ask, am I the only one that finds the irony in how Disney (at least in CA) keeps cats around to control rodents. With the whole "It all started with a mouse" thing?
