I own Disney and understand Disney. They just don't have enough resorts. Is there another hotel timeshare that is similar? The system is so confusing? I wish they were all like Disney. Its so easy to understand. I want something with points and you don't have to do a week at a time.

WorldMark is very strong in the west. In the eastern half of the US, Wyndham or Bluegreen would be good options.

There are several Timeshare systems that are point based or partially point based. None of them are as easy to use as DVC. None of them will allow you to book partial stays at the opening reservation period. Some of the other systems are hybrid point/weeks ownership. I own Starwood and they fall under the hybrid system. At the 12 month window you book your rooms based on the weeks you own at that resort. At the 8 month mark, your ownership converts to points to book at other Starwood resorts within the system, but still for week stays. At 90 days out, you can book individual/partial stays at Starwood resorts.

If you are looking at another timeshare system, base it own where you would want to stay. There are pluses and minus to each system. You should really spend time and investigate each system, find one that meets your needs. We choose Starwood based on where we live and the resorts we wanted to trade into.

We just bought into the Six Flags Vacation Club last night. It's a lot like DVC.

With SFVC, it costs $220 per point to buy in. The points per night are about on par with WDW. And just like with WDW, you'll always get accomodations right next to the theme park. In Six Flags' case, it's usually a Motel 6, but that's basically the same as Disney from what I've read on here.

An exclusive SFVC member perk is $6 off admission if you bring an empty Coke can (that's $1 more than non-SFVC members!).

We're thinking of adding on the Six Flags Dining Plan, where for only $50 per person per day, you get a hot dog and a hamburger every day you're there, plus you get an unlimited refills drink container that you can't take on any of the rides and have to pay $5 per ride to park in a locker. It's a really good deal.

I'd look into it if I were you!

very funny!

Marriott if you want II, HGVC if you want RCI.

although Wynham is probably the biggest with RCI.

Hilton has something called The Hilton Grand Vacation Club (HGVC). You can exchange with a select group of Hilton Timeshare resorts.

This is not true. Wyndham allows bookings of 3, 4, or 7 nights during Prime seasons, or any stay of 2 nights or longer at Quiet, Value, or High seasons, as soon as your reservation window opens.

isn't there an extra charge for this? cleaning charge?

Truly, I find Worldmark's point system to be easier to use than DVC's. Specifically easier in areas of banking/borrowing points and real time online availability/reservations. I am also relieved that WM assigns oldest points to each reservation ... and maintains that aging using overnight processes to juggle the points assigned to recent reservations.

Similar to Brian's comments regarding partial stays in Wyndham -- Worldmark owners may book partial stays during White and Blue seasons at the opening reservation period (13 months). We may also book short stays during Red Season using "only space available" patterns anytime in the reservation period or split a reservation across multiple resorts.

Seriously easy ... and in locations I enjoy visiting (CA, UT, OR, WA, NM, HI, etc.)

There might be. Both Wyndham and Worldmark assign owners a certain number of housekeeping tokens based on membership type and size. (Certain membership types receive unlimited tokens ... ) In general you receive your new points and new HK tokens each use year.

Each reservation booked on points will consume one or more HK tokens. Once you are out of tokens - you pay housekeeping charges.

This system shifts the extra housekeeping costs to the folks who use their points for multiple short stays vs fewer long stays. (Excepting for the owners w/ non-housekeeping accounts ... who probably run up plenty of short stays ... myself included.)

All things considered, while housekeeping charges are a nuisance and possible deterrent, the overall cost of ownership and use remain lower than DVC.

It's pretty hard to run out of Housekeeping points as a Wyndham owner, unless you tend to primarily book weekday stays in low-point seasons at low-point resorts. You can also rent them from other members who don't use their entire allotment---typically at about 50% of the cost from Wyndham.
