Is the "woods" view that much different than the "courtyard" view at the WL?

The two Views are in fact very different, but rather it's worth it would be up you. If you do upgrade to Courtyard View ask for the Inner Courtyard overlooking the main pool.

We were just there Nov.19th-21st. We had a courtyard view booked. I also wondered if the view was worth the extra costs. Well when we walked in our room we realized it was worth it!! We had an amazing view. We were looking straight at the main pool. To our right we could see the lake and to our left was the "main" bldg. We were on the 5th floor. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony just people watching. At night it wasn't noisy at all.

If you get a Woods View room in the North Wing, 5th or 6th floor, you have a good chance of seeing the Castle and the Contemporary, and the fireworks.....

IMHO - only if you can see the castle, or just want a peaceful view - don't forget about the Otter pond too....

I REALLY love the courtyard view...especially if you can be in the main building and looking straight out onto the lake. It is wonderful to watch the Electric Parade (they have on the lake every night) from your balcony!!!

The two types of rooms are very different. In fact, some people, when offered a free upgrade from woods to courtyard, don't want the upgrade because the woods view rooms have a quiet and peaceful view while the courtyard view overlooks the pool. Really, you can't go wrong at WL. We had a woods view room in Sept. and loved it. I would like to try a courtyard view next time, but my DH likes the peaceful, quiet view that you get with the woods view room. I'd set up a tent in the lobby and sleep there if they would let me!

I received an upgrade to courtyard view from woods view in '02. Initially I was happy but I was given the courtyard view that faces the Villas instead of the main courtyard. I would have preferred to stick with the woods view in hindsight. IMO, the main courtyard would be worth the upgrade, but not the Villas courtyard. In '98 we had 5th floor main courtyard view and it was terrific.
