Is The Wilderness Lodge Really A Deluxe Resort

A deluxe resort at Disney will have:
Valet Service
Full Bell Services
more than one full service restaurant
Interior hallways
Patios or balconies
2 queen beds
Suites
at least 2 pools
recreational opportunites

I think Wilderness Lodge from its inception qualified as a Deluxe resort. We stayed there for Grand Opening I do not recall any mention of it being a moderate then changing to a deluxe.

The room size as stated is different but then all room sizes have changed at Disney since the Contemporary and Polynesian were built for all the deluxe resorts.

We love the WL and definitely consider it a deluxe. Some say it's a lower priced deluxe. I would stay there if it was the most expensive hotel on property. For us, none of the other resorts we have visited could compare....they just aren't our taste.
WL just fits, we feel at home. But hey, I'm glad it's less money than some allows me more "mad" money.

The theme is amazing, the lobby breathtaking, never had a problem w/transporation. Some may consider the rooms small - but how much room do you need? We are only in the room to sleep and shower. I love being on water and able to rent out the speed boats. Love the 3 food options.

My only complaint is I would love the pool to be larger. It is a bit small.

What room location did you have to see the firework? We have res for April 2005. Travel with 3 children (8, 6, 1) and hope to get bunk beds and still fit a portable crib. Is there enough room? I am now concerned with all the talk that it is too small.

I'm not wmarsich, but I think I can help!

Room 5032 would be great for viewing the fireworks from. As far as fitting a portable crib, it's going to be tight, but it's do-able!

We were on the North Side and had a "woodsview" room. You can request this, but as you may have already heard - the view and any other special requests can not be guarenteed. If you purchased a woodsview room, I would put in a request for an upper floor and northside room and hope. Be aware that the 6th floor is smoking, so if your not a smoker your best choice is concierge (7th floor - in our dreams) and 5th floor. It doesn't hurt to get there early in the day and reiterate that request to reservations and put on your best disney charm.

As far as space - we had two queens and you would definately have had trouble fitting in a crib in our room. I've heard that bunk beds give you signficantly more room and it wouldn't likely be a problem. However, again, you can only request bunkbeds and they cannot be guarenteed.

Check out the wilderness lodge "Just the facts ma'am" thread on this forum - those guys know everthing and will probably steer you better than I could - I'm just describing my experience - the lodge was at 100% capacity when we arrived and we were thrilled with the view, although we did have to ask again for our preferences (which was on our ressie) and be switched upon check-in. We felt very fortunate!
