Is the Skyliner making you consider any resort you normally wouldn't stay at?

For me, the gondolas are making us stay away from those resorts in the summer. We’re here now and it’s hot. If I put my kids in a non-running van with tinted windows which are vented, i go to jail. At Disney, it’s celebrated. No way my kids will ever get in those at these temps.

But the Gonsolas are continuous loaders so there will not be the 0-20 minute(or more) wait like with the buses.

Except both parks I can walk to or get a boat to from Boardwalk, Yatch, and Beach Club. So there is no bus to consider when comparing it.

Also continuous loader we will see. When you want to get on there will be others in front of you as well as traffic from CBR hub to Epcot. On the flip side going to HS you will have people from CBR, AoA, and Pop to deal with. Not to mention joy riders which will be prevelant the first 2 or so years.

Like I said I will be a believer when I see it.

No, it would not impact where I stay. I choose resort based on resort, and we want to always be near MK.

Disney raised all the prices at Skyliner resorts, so now Pop Century isn't really a value resort - you can't get a room for less than about $175/night. That ain't value, and having stayed at Pop, there's no way that room is worth that much a night (during peak times you'll pay $200+/night). So, for my next trip, I'll have to stay at one of the All Stars, as those are the only true value resorts left.

No. We like certain resorts and a gondola/monorail/buses don't factor much into our decision on where to stay. We like BLT to walk to MK and BC/BW to walk to EP and DHS.

Doesn't change my resort interests at all. I am excited to ride the Skyliner, but the only resort on the line I would consider staying is RIviera. I am sure I will do so at some point, I have stayed at all of the other Skyliner resorts previously, except AOA, and they are my least favorite WDW resorts, no desire to stay at either of them again, even with the Skyliner.

Yes, I am considering a split stay at a moderate that will have Skyliner access. Already booked a 2 week stay at BWI CL for the end of December and wouldn't mind keeping some of that money in my pocket.

It's logic. All outdoor rides and pools are closed during thunderstorms and/or if lightning is spotted anywhere within a certain radius, even if there is no rain. The same is true for the friendship boats on Crescent Lake. No way would they keep people up in the gondolas while there is lightning around. And there is lightning on an almost daily basis throughout the summer.

Correct. We were there last month and storms were off and on all afternoon starting around noon.

No. It's not enough to overcome the drawbacks for me. And I can get as good or better transportation at the resorts we usually go to. But I could see it being a positive feature for some that would push them over the edge to stay at one.

The fact they have a rescue boat for these gondolas makes me super nervous. Plus the fact they don't have AC and Florida has lightning pretty much daily in the summer makes me never want to ride them. I think the only way I'll ever get on one is to try it out, not using it as a daily source of transportation.

I typically stay at Pop to save money and be able to take longer trips. If the Skyliner bumps Pop up into moderate pricing then I'll probably end up at an AS resort.

I love the idea of the Skyliner, though, and I'm not concerned about it being hot or dangerous.

We love CBR... and have stayed there many many times... while CBR is a large and spaced out resort... and there is some walking to and from the bus stops to the resort rooms themselves... they do have a internal buses... I don't think that it really takes any longer than at any other resort to get around...

I do love the idea of another mode of transportation, at really any resort....

When we book at Disney.... transportation is down on the list or importance.... We are at Disney so YAY!!!!

Now when we are booking for other vacations... transportation to site, excursion, airport all play into picking a hotel...

I will say that with Uber or Lyft now ... knowing that its out there to use, does make things a bit different, you just have to build it into your budget...

So No I would not pick a resort just based on the Skyliner...

I stay at Pop and CBR fairly often. I probably will never ride the gondola so it won’t make a big difference unless:
1. Prices are higher at the Skyliner resorts.
2. Alternate transportation is unavailable or inconvenient at those resorts.

In which case I’ll book elsewhere.

The all stars have always been a bit cheaper then Pop. Pop is about $30 - $35 more per night then the all stars for the dates I’ve been looking. Not too bad considering Pop rooms have been fully renovated and the rooms have queen beds now. If and when all the all stars get queen beds, I bet you’ll see a price reflection closer to Pop.

The closest priced moderate to Pop is generally $60-$75+ more. So Pop is still a good value when you look at it that way. I think the lake gives Pop that moderate feel at a decent price.

Pop is our Disney home, we love that resort, but the addition of the Skyliner and the increased prices that go with it may have me looking at alternate “Value” resorts unfortunately.

We happened to get a discount for Sept at POP. But the Skyliner did not make our decision for us. Usually it is about the cost of the resort. We are fine with the Disney bus system. I'm sure we will try it if it's up and running, but not counting on it either way.

CBR has always been on the list, the skyliner nudged us in the direction of booking it. We spend most of our time in the world showcase when we're in Epcot, and it seemed like a no brainer.

Its too early to say for me. If the reviews of the gondolas are generally good, I would consider another stay at CBR. We've stayed in the past and didn't care for the buses there, so to be able to remove two of the four parks from buses we have to take would certainly help. But I will wait to see what people are saying about the gondolas - if people are complaining of it being too hot, lines too long, infrequent buses at the gondola resorts - then I might wait a while before choosing one of those resorts.
