Not really sure if it is a good or bad change. We usually travel during low visitation times and plan months in advance. Haven't had to book DBD yet (even added 2 rooms 2.5 months ago for Oct trip). We are very flaxible where we stay, so I guess that helps. Booking next week for a June 09 vacation so will see how it goes. We also on stay for five nights (Sun-Fri).

We all know that when chicken little claimed the "Sky is Falling" everyone thought he was nuts!

Banking Rules: Always borrowing so doesn't matter.
Four-Month Booking Rule: Use our points at WDW and have vacations planned so far ahead we usually have 3 reservations on the books at a time.
Jim Lewis: Well, as most leaders, I take everything they say with a grain of salt.
Pleasure Island Closing: Never went anyways. Didn't think a place loaded with bars was appropriate for a family vacation spot anyways. (JMHO)
11 Month +7 Booking: Don't really know about this one. I usually get the reservation I'm after anyways, so I'll just go with the flow.

Nope, don't see the sky falling in on me! Just put up your umbrella and roll with the punches. Life is too short to worry about such little things. Think how lucky you are to even have these worries, not everyone can say they are DVC members or even been to WDW before!

Let's see what's going on in my neck of the woods. (south Jersey)

1) Gas is 3.90/gallon
2) Milk is well on it's way to $5.00 gallon, breakfast at denny's use to be cheap now it may be cheaper to go to Le Bernadin.
3) Property taxes are up while the value of my house has probably gone down.

right now DVC is pretty much the bright spot. Sky definitely not falling over booking procedure.

I voted the minor annoyances, but I do think it has been a string of annoyances since Jim Lewis took over. If I hadn't been on the disboards, I wouldn't have known about the downgrading of studio items. I do not like the new banking rule. Member services has never answered my question which was "If the banking windows could be moved, why not set the 100% banking date at the old 25% mark?" I am someone who is affected negatively, since I do tend to schedule some family vacations in December, and I have a March UY. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the impact of that rule.

I have read much of the thread about the new booking rules. I do not understand "walking." Since up to this point, we became members in 2003, we have gotten our #1 resort choice for all of our vacations, I do not know if my lack of timeshare secrets will hurt the vacations we take. I do not like the fact that 11 months out from my first check out date, others in my home resorts have had the opportunity to book the very rooms that I may want. Someone didn't like what I said, but I do think that dilutes the 11 month home resort priority window. I think everyone should have a fair shake at each day. In our vacations, we have had a GG with standard view rooms at the BWV, we've enjoyed a Beach Cottage, I've booked a GV at BWV, and have some days in AK Concierge, and I wonder if these will be possible in the future. I sure hope so.

Hi Ms. Bobbi! I just want to tell you not to get all worked up over all these posts. The majority of the posters here are analyzing things to death. I for one like the change, I will now know if I can get all of my days at once, not wondering if there will be holes in my week. You have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy your DVC, as will I. Don't get caught up in all this negativity. There are more things to be concerned with right now......let DVC continue to be your "happy place"!:goodvibes

:)

OK! I'm home, DH isn't because he took the detour to help the family get to Boston and will be coming into Dayton tonight. We had absolutely the best vacation anyone could ask for...our DGC are growing and we're grateful for the opportunities to share WDW with them and our family and friends.

You are right, I know...and I appreciate the reminder!

Bobbi:)

The only sky falling around us is rain and the stock market. DVC is treating us fine. As someone stated, people are analyzing things to death.:confused3

Uhhh... actually, he WAS nuts!

Did you not see the Disney version of Chicken Little? :lmao: And besides are you calling your fellow disers nuts? ;) I for one will admit that I am beyond nuts most of the time but these changes just aren't bothering me. The glasses removed from the studios irritated me, but didn't make me nuts!

The price of gas however, is making me crazy! $4.19 here in Upstate NY is making it very expensive to get to WDW! What is happening there is water off a duck's back. It is my "Happy Place".:rotfl:

With the mortgage crisis, home prices falling, credit availability shrinking, energy costs skyrocketing, unemployment rising, and air travel costs going up with no end in sight --- the changes that DVC is making aren't that significant to me when I look at the big picture.

The mortgage crisis was created by real estate agents and mortgage companies along with new home owners buying homes more expensive than they could afford. Not my problem

Home prices falling? Again, I'm not selling my home. MY DVC?? Maybe.

Energy costs skyrocketing - again greedy suppliers.

Unemployment rising? I hadn't heard that one yet.

Air travel costs going up? I seldom fly, so no problem to me.

DVC changes? Those hit me because I've been doing this for 11 years and suddenly, I'm too dumb to understand the process. I'm just a stupid member who doesn't understand the process.

Yes, these are issues to be concerned with. DVC changes, very small importance in relation to the real world. Those that deny our economic problems are living in a fish bowl.:fish:
