well, im not sure if this is the right place to post but here it is.

DW and I were planning on Sending our DS (5) on the pirate cruise, however we are not sure if it is something he will enjoy yet and were wondering if anyone had information on younger children and this activity? since parents cant go along we arent sure if it should be a wait until next year activity? He does just fine being away from DP so that really shouldnt be a problem. any other stories and advice would be appreciated

Your son will LOVE it!! my ds was 5 last jan 2003 when he went and still talks about it! They are supervised heavely and they really feel as if they are doing something really special and can come back and tell mom and dad all about it!

Take my advice and send him. They give them a lunch and a bag of pirate loot when they come off the boat. They also, come back singing hi ho hi ho a pirates life for me!! ARG!!

I thought i would get sick of hearing it but just the expressions in his face made it all worth it!!

hey thanks for the reply, its nice to get opionions from people with children the same age. We just werent sure our DS would enjoy it. I thinnk will try it now thanks

My DS9 and DD7 did the pirate cruise in Dec. They were actually some of the oldest ones on the boat. There were a lot of 4 years olds. They both had a wonderful time. My son wore his pirate bandana this rest of the week.

our son did it when he was 5--two years ago and he still talks about it. He is asking to do it again on the next trip!

My DD went when she was 7 and she too was one of the oldest on the boat. She loved it and all the other kids seemed to as well. Be sure to send along a disposible camera. She took some pics and the CMs took some for her as well!

DS di the cruise last January just before his 5th birthday and loved it. On his cruise too there were mostly 4-5 year olds. I'm sure your DS will love it. Isaiah still has his 'treasure" in his room and asks me to hide it around the house for him so he can find it

when we did in Jan 2000, middle kid was just past 5 and oldest was 6.5. It was the hit of the trip and, though the last thing we did which may have contributed to it, they talked about it more than anything else. Now 9 and almost 11, they will be joined by the youngest at 5.5

do you have to stay at grand floridian to do this activity? It sounds so fun!

My son did this last June when he was 3.5 yrs old. He loved it.
I plan on getting him in there again this June. I asked him if he would like to do it again & he quickly answered YES! :)
He still talks about it & plays with the treasures he "found"

I bet your son will love it

A friend's son (age 4.5) really enjoyed the pirate cruise (he's into pirates). Apparently they partner them up with another kid so they don't have to feel like they're on their own. If your kid doesn't have a lot of anxiety at being separated from parents and playing with other kids he doesn't know, he should be fine.

Anybody can sign kids up for the cruise, not just Grand Floridian guests.

WELL THANKS TO EVERRYONE FOR ALL THE GREAT INFORMATION. I CERTAINLY THINK IT WILL BE SOMETHING OUR SON WILL ENJJOY NOW WE ONLY HAVE TO WAIT 89 DAYS
