Is the Meal Plan worth it for 2 days

We are coming to Disney for 2 nights in June and staying on property. Is the 2008 Dining Plan worth the purchase vs Out of pocket? Any great recommendations for a table service meal for a 4 YR old and 1 Yr old.

Whether the DDP is worth it or not really depends on where you're eating for those days, what meals you're eating and what you plan on eating once you're there.

With kids your age, you might like the character meals. Those tend to be good for using the DDP. Breakfasts are not as good of a value for the DDP unless you're going during a time that's surcharged. (Last two weeks of March, Memorial Day - July 5, Thanksgiving, or Christmas) However, if you're doing mostly lunches and dinners then the DDP may be a good idea for you.

I'd have an easier time crunching some numbers for you if you let me know what your tentative plans are for the trip.

My thought is on the day we arrive, we are not going to a park, we would maybe grab a quick lunch and have a nice dinner. The next day will be a park day, and we would like to eat a nice indoor meal at the MK for dinner. We are going in June.

Where are you staying?

Where would you be traveling that first day for dinner?

Would you plan on the quick lunch at your resort?

At the MK for dinner, would you look at a buffet (Crystal Palace), an all you can eat plated family style meal (Liberty Tree Tavern), some nice sandwiches (The Plaza), Italian (Tony's) or try for a meal in the castle (CRT - Two Credits and probably a loss loser on the DDP even for dinner)

I am not sure exactly where we are staying Either POFQ, or Coroando Most likely eat a quick lunch at the hotel, but that night for dinner we can go anywhere. I was thinking either Chef Mickey or the BBQ? Anyother ideas would be great.

Double Cheeseburger - $7.09
Beverage - $2.39 (guessing here based on other fountain drinks)
Lunch - $9.48

Chef Mickey Supper - $33.99
Supper - $33.99

Total Spent for the day $43.47 (add tax to that) $46.30

DDP Cost - $37.99
Spent - $46.30
Savings - $8.31 (not even figuring in your snack)


Also nice about using the DDP on a short stay is that you don't get sick of so much food for so long. You're very full for a short time

Well, if you stay a CSR, pepper market is an excellent value on dining plan. I think our bill was almost $60 for 2 kids and 2 adults, CS credit. also the Maya Grill was a last minute choice and it was one of our favorite meals. They had mozz stix for a kids appt.

Doesn't the dining plan require a 3 night minimum stay?

we do it more because it allows us to pay ahead and do meals that if we were paying the day of, we'd never do. Now that being said, I do try to get my money's worth. Before the dining plan, the only meal we'd have at the parks was lunch at a CS($35) so we definately spoend more on the dp, but we eat more and do restaurants than we would mormally. For us, it's more about the experiences it allows.
