Is the Magic in trouble??

I found this interesting; we cruise on the Magic the 24th to the 30th. So are you implying everyone was sick because of the rough weather or there may be a virus going around the ship? I didn't know about that site, thank you! Cindy

I was on the magic in summer 2010 ans we lost power for several hours as well. It was scary!!! It was at 2am and they started announcing "don't worry other ships know we are here". ........yeah right.

That Tweeted pic is from the other day. It was from Saturday when they posted it on Facebook.

Assuming the photo is from today -- why else would they tweet it? -- I wonder if this means the Magic went to CC first to make repairs? It seemed to be heading that way on the ship trackers.

On second thought...this photo may be a coincidence. I think the Dream is heading the wrong way, north toward PC not south toward Nassau. I have no idea.

That picture is probably from the day after Thanksgiving. It looks like the Magic is tied up at CC and the Dream passed by during her sea day. That happened to us a couple of years ago when we sailed over Thanksgiving on the Wonder and went by CC.

Oh WOW! Hope it is not a virus! I also leave Sat for the next cruise and it's all I can do to avoid getting sick from someone here! Everyone at work is out with flu!

FYI.
The email was sent yesterday at 9pm. I did not get it until just before my post. We replied but have not heard any updates yet.
I can not get any current locations on the marine trackers.

Once ships pass Nassau, they are out of range of the marine traffic system. If it's on an Eastern, it should be off the coast of the Turks by now.

As for power problems on Magic, it has happened to us on two separate cruises (2009-2010). The first time we were docked in St Martin, and lost power for about 30 minutes, and the second time, we were at sea, and lost it two or three times for maybe 10 minutes each. It would go out, came back for a few minutes, then cycle back out again.

Just heard back from my TA (who I called in a panic this morning ;)) and she spoke with three different supervisors, who then called the Ship Ops department. At this point, they acknowledge a brief loss of power, but no illness has been reported. I’d guess, then, that the illness reported by the OP was related to seasickness, and not a stomach bug.

Didn’t sound like they expected a change in itinerary for this sailing, either.

She certainly made this worry-wart feel much better!

Well sure they knew...what you hadn't noticed was Disney was launching off fireworks. :lmao:

That's good news, but I'd feel better hearing it from others aboard, since DCL is known to keep everything possible under wraps - lol.

However, yes, I WOULD think the sickness was seasickness, but that can be really awful when a lot of people are seasick all around you. Yikes! Still, better than a virus going around!

Assuming the weather has not changed much...the seas are not bad at all.

But that being said, if the stablizers go out I think I would get sick on 4 to 6 ft. seas on a big ship.

I was on the Magic the week of Thanksgiving...an Eastern Carribbean. The first 2 nights were pretty rough. After that, everything calmed down and the rest of the cruise was great. So, hopefully the people cruising now will have similar good luck. :)

Also--regarding the Dream--it was the day after Thanksgiving as a PP said. It was a beautiful sight sitting on the beach of CC watching her float by.

Whew. Glad it's not a virus. Still worrisome about the power issue and seasickness, though. We also sail on Saturday.

Hope things are getting better on the Magic for the current passengers/crew!

And we were on the Dream sailing by. Lots of fun.

We sailed 2 years ago on the Eastern in Nov and had really rough seas the first 2 nights. I had never gotten seasick before, but that time it did me in, along with many others. It was not a pretty sight with all of the seasick people, but after that everything was fine. I am hoping that they are in better seas and everyone is doing fine.

When the power goes out, do they have back up generators? Surely, it is not just black everywhere....
