Is the left side of an attraction line faster then the right side?

I have read in various guide books and from a news clip on the Internet I saw about WDW that said when you are in line for an attraction going on the left side of the line is faster then going on the right side of the line, because guests are more likely to go on the right. I am assuming for that to work the attraction would be one that does not offer Fast Pass? Anyway can someone confirm that because it's something I would want to try when my family and I are at WDW in August.

I've heard this too, and we always go left and feel it's quicker but, hey I'm at Disney, and am enjoying even the lines :rotfl: I'm not sure about all the rides but we were given a chance to find out on Pirates this past Feb. We were right at the turnstile on the left side when they closed the right side turnstile. We made it to the boats WAY before the end of the right side - I would guess by about 8-10 boatloads full. Unless they were loading in a different way . . . . maybe a CM can comment on that! :) As far as fast pass rides, I can't think of any that have a true right and left queue out front but a lot split at the end and some like SM and BTMRR can split into two lines towards the end if both sides are open. I'd like to hear what others have noticed about this, too! Have a magical trip in August!

I've read in tour books that staying on the left does not save you time. They say unless a line, right or left, is considerably shorter, then get on it, but otherwise there is really no difference.

Its really a moot point, anyway.

98% (or so) of the attractions do not HAVE "two sides."

And some that DO (like Soarin' and Big Thunder Mtn.) do not allow YOU to choose which side to take.

I've been on Pirates of the Caribbean twice and both times we got on the right line and it was WAY shorter than the left.

Isn't there only one que on small world?

That's what I thought, unless they've added another "side" since this last Dec.
:confused3

I certainly don't count the split (like at Splash) directly at the loading area.

There is a guest-decided left and right side in:

MK-
Space Mtn.
Pirates
TL Speedway (?)

Epcot- FW
None that I can think of.
(Green and Orange Team of M:S would not count)

Epcot- WS
Am. Adv.: Escalators & stairway, but those are ALL packed, and you re-group at the theater entrance, anyway.

MGM-
Gt. Movie Ride
ToT: Boiler room queue split
RnR: Upper and lower entrance to recording studio pre-show.

AK-
Dinosaur (you can choose the side that has fewer guests by sight, right at the loading area)

What am I forgetting?
(Remember, I'm saying GUEST-decided "splits.")

The general left/right thing probably would have been more relevant pre-FP when many attractions had a "left side/right side". Today, most of them are now "one side Standby/one side Fastpass". A few exceptions are Pirates, IASW, Great Movie Ride, etc.

OK, I'm still lost on this.

AFAIK, iasw doesn't have a true Left and Right side (like Pirates.)

You can "choose" a side of the lean bars to walk down, but there are cross-overs that allow you to rejoin your group or change sides as you progress.
And, I would think you would just be smarter to get in the "fewest number of guests" side rather than pick the left or right arbitrarily.
Then, there's a common loading area when you reach the end of the queue.
I don't see how there is a "faster or slower/left or right" decision to make on this one.
