Is the ITALIAN food in your region REALLY GOOD?

I am sorry. This topic always humors me when people talk about what is more authentic as far as Disney restaurants goes. My mom was Sicilian and my father from Bari. I live and work as a chef in Turin. I have eaten all over the United States and have tried much Italian cuisine there. This should be titled "Best Italian-American food" because very little actually resembles true Italian food. I challange anyone to find chicken parmesan as an entree in Italy. Don't get me wrong, I have had some very good food in the States but not true Italian.

Having just returned from Lugano, Rome, and Tuscany this is so true. While I can't get a good Cinghiale Cacciatore at home(or a Ribolita for that matter), we have the next best thing. Somewhere between NYC and Boston lies the Hill(or anywhere in RI for that matter) -our Italian makes anywhere in Boston look like the Irish that they are. Ok.... Mike's is pretty good. And yes... there is NO chicken parm to be found in Italy, nor is there any rabe in May!

Compared to the North End here in Boston, the meal I had in Italy in EPCOT back in 2000 was a pale imitation of Italian food. I've never gone back. And what they pizza in WDW....

And I'm not Italian.

Of course, as noted above, this if for the "Italian-American" category. If you would like real regional Italian food in Boston, try Pomodoro in the North End and Rialto in Cambridge. You can definitely find real regional Italian cuisine here (i.e. not red-sauce), but I'm not that snooty.

OK, Chef Jody Adams' Berditto back in the Michela's days was to die for....
