Could someone please enlighten me on how bad the OKW extension went? I haven't seen any posts about this before.
There was very little uptake of the extension by OKW owners as most decided paying the costs upfront for points that would not start till 2042 wasn't a good idea. So now Disney is stuck with the majority of OKW owners having an end date of 2042, but still having some with an end date of 2057.
They extended the contract from 2042 to 2057. Pricing was $25/point discounted down to $15/point.
Once the extended contracts hit the resale market, they only got a $5-$7 advantage over non-extended contracts.
Last year Disney ROFR a lot of OKW contracts (I lost 4 in a couple of months) as they were pushing OKW direct sales as all direct OKW sales have an end date of 2057. The thinking here was that they were/are trying to move more OKW owners to having a 2057 end date.
