My family of 5 will be doing a one or two night stay next April before our cruise. We would really only have all day Saturday to do anything. We debated on staying at a value or moderate resort and getting passes to MK but DH would really rather just hang out and relax at the pool. In that case, I am now wondering if we should book BC for their awesome pool. Its obviously significantly more money but would it be worth it? POR is nice and all, but BC pool area looks amazing! How is bus transportaion compared to POR? I found POR bus service horrible. We would only use the bus system to go to Poly for Ohanas dinner.

Also, how is the breakfast at BC?

Tough call, but I would consider the POLY as well. Also 5 usually rules out Values and all but one Mod unless 2 rooms. One day on the POLY beach is not the worst scenario either. From the BC the bus to MK would most likely pick you up then stop at the BW b4 heading to MK, then mono to POLY. Not the worst-but will eat some time up.

Either resort would be great for relaxing at a pool IMO. BC char breakfast is very good as well. But those are spendy but fun.

The BC is a beautiful resort and for us, yes, it would be worth it over a moderate. But with that said, only you can decide whether or not it's worth it for you. If you are looking for a quick CS breakfast, the Marketplace has a limited selection, but there is no quick serve place and does not have the variety like that of the other deluxe resorts or moderates/values. There is Cape May Cafe that is a buffet and is awesome for breakfast if you want a sit down. Another suggestion would be the Poly since you will only be there one night and will be eating at Ohanas. The volcano pool is great and backs up to the beach with a view of the castle in the distance, plus the beach is great for watching the fireworks. The rooms are also quite a bit larger at the Poly than at the BC, which might be nice with 5 of you.

If you are actually planning on spending time at your resort to relax, then yes BC would be a great pick. The pool is so beautiful and relaxing, and Cape May Cafe is our favorite breakfast. We find the bus service to be fine, although sometimes crowded as it is shared with BW/Swan/Dolphin.
You could also walk to Epcot and eat dinner there for a second option.

I would love to have dinner at Le Cellier but i don't want to buy park passes for the day. Im going to look into the Poly though. Thanks!

BC is a great resort to spend a non-park day. Besides the awesome pool, you can walk to mini golf or simply enjoy the fun on the boardwalk. BC also has a great arcade and prizes. There is a fun bike path around the water -- it's especially nice to ride during Illuminations. Beaches & Cream is a great way to end the day with an ice cream snack.

However, for just one day, I'm not sure if I'd want to transport to Ohana for dinner (though Ohana is my favorite dinner spot in disney) simply because of having to bus there and waste a fair amount of time. I'd look at staying at Poly for the night, even though BC is my favorite resort, just for the convenience of your dinner at Ohana. Or, in the alternative, I'd stay at BC and switch dinner to Cape May, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish, even Espn Club is pretty good.

BC does have a nice character breakfast at Cape May.

Beach Club is beautiful - that being said we stayed there for free (ESPN trip win). I don't think I could bring myself to pay for a room there - the rooms were very pretty, but I actually thought quite small for what I expected at a Deluxe Resort (swear our Coronado Room was bigger - either that or laid out better). We felt a bit cramped with 4 people in there. If my budget allows Deluxe again, I would actually try another one instead, just for something different, or possibly just head back to Swan/Dolphin. Location is awesome.

One of our 'maybe someday' trips is to stay at the Poly so we can sit on the beach & watch the fireworks, so that suggestion sounds very appealing from my end!

THe Beach Club is AMAZING! The pool, the gift shop, the restaurants, the atmosphere! Everything is wonderful! It is worth the price.:)

The Poly is awesome:worship: A great place to stay one night, especially if you are eating at Ohana's. The rooms are huge with a lovely day bed, that is very comfy.

We enjoyed watching Wishes from the pool and beach. We thought the volcano pool was small and crowded. My teens thought it was boring, but I can see the appeal for younger kids.

We are trying YC this time, as the teens want to try SAB.

In response to your question in one word....YES and yes and yes! :rotfl: All around worth the price for us!

Stormalong pool is terrific and fun. You won't be sorry if you choose it.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse at YC is right next to BC and personally, I like the food better than LeCellier. If you want to go really crazy, their is a Shula's steakhouse at the Dolphin Hotel which is a 5 minute walk....

There's also Kouzzina (Cat Cora's restaurant on the Boardalk), Flying Fish (Boardwalk), Cape May (BC), Il Milluna (Swan), Bluezoo (Dolphin) all within walking distance. :thumbsup2

If you decide to stay Deluxe then BC is an excellent choice! It's my favorite, beautiful guest rooms, proximity to many great restaurants & fabulous pool.

If you stay moderate POR would be my first choice, it's really lovely & recently refurbed. I can't really speak to the quality of bus service as we usually rent a car.

In answer to your first question:

YES!

About breakfast:

I'd highly recommend trying Fresh over at the Swalphin. They've got an excellent buffet... and we don't even really like buffets. It's a nice change-of-pace from the standard Disney fare.

The Beach Club is an amazing resort and has a lot of things to do the pool is very very nice, beaches and cream (the ice cream shop) has some really good ice cream, the board walk which is right across from the Beach Club has a lot of fun things to do as well plenty for a non park day :thumbsup2

If the choice is between two nights at BC or two nights at POR with MK tickets, the BC would be less expensive overall, particularly for a family of five; and it would also be the better choice between the two for a resort only stay.

I would also take the BC over the Poly. Especially in busier times, the Poly's pool, which is nowhere near the size (or as nice IMO) as Stormalong Bay, will feel much more crowded. Add in the fact that rumors are running rampant that major construction will soon be taking place at the Poly, the potential is there for a not so relaxing stay.

If worrying about the trek to Ohana, you're better off skipping it and trying one of the many excellent Epcot Resort restaurants. For your situation, I do think BC/YC is your best option for a Disney Resort only stay.

YES BC is that awesome!!!
If you're staying there for a couple of nights and not getting park tickets - then there is plenty to do on the Boardwalk across from BC. SAB pool is wonderful for both kids & adults. Foodwise - the marketplace, 7am-11pm, has a lot to choose from for breakfast and lunch and very convenient. Also there is Hurricane Hanna's w great CS for lunch - the burgers are my favorite. Cape May is a great charachter breakfast, dinner is mostly seafood- not my thing. There is also Beaches & Cream for a relaxed lunch or dinner and ice cream.
As for transportation - we always just walk through Epcot and take mono to MK & mono resorts. Since you won't have park tickets - the bus is a good option. I found the service much better than other resorts I've stayed at. & if you don't want to stop at the other stops (BW, S&D) - then just hop off at the first one and walk over to BC - very nice stroll along the boardwalk.
But I'm biased - BC is my home away from home!:lovestruc:banana:

YES It is our favorite resort for many reasons. stormalong, location, atmosphere, food, nightlife, excursions etc etc
