Is Soarin' open?

There are certain times of the day where Cast Members ask people if they want to ride it, but it's offical opening day is May 5th. (see the pattern? 05-05-05 ;) )

The height restriction is 40''

For general public I would look for soft opening right after the AP preview mid April.
I may hang around The Land this weekend as see if we luck out for a soft, soft opening! :rotfl:

My Husband and I just got back from our spectacular Disney Vacation yesterday and we got to ride Soarin'!!!! It was absolutely AMAZING! I think it is the best ride in all of Disney World! :Pinkbounc

Thanks! Can't wait to try it in May!

My family gets a little queasy on Star Tours. Will we have that same problem on this? I can't wait to try it, but I don't want to walk around naseous all day.

We were coming out of Imagination when a Cast Member said they were looking for people to "try out" the new ride...that sounded scary phrased that way, but :cool1:
Way worth the hour wait!!!I can't wait till we move to CA to ride it again!!

If you have a problem with heights you might have a problem with Soarin. It simulates being on a hang glider so the movements are pretty gentle.

I doubt it. Star Tours jerks you around alot and Soarin' is pretty smooth. They have a warning posted that if you get motion sick or are afraid of heights that you might want to rethink it. I experience both on some of the rides, but I was taking Ginger Root Extract (great anti-motion sickness herb) and you are strapped in very securely on the ride. I'm terrified of heights, but I was A-OK on it. It's like a nice gentle flight over California. Just lifts you up and you have the giant screen in front of you. Also, something you might want to try for nausea is Papaya Enzyme. Works wonders!

Hope this helps!!

We are going April 9th. Chances of soft opening that soon are slim?
Should we beg? Should we look pitiful and bat our eyes at a CM or is it random selections for the ride?

My DH and I get queasy on Star Tours too and avoid it. However, we rode Soarin in DL and thought it was great. We're looking forward to riding it in May. :flower:

I'm thinking the same thing! :teeth: We'll be there for about 12 days in early April, and I REALLY want to ride Soarin'!! I may be hanging around the area the entire 12 days to try to catch a ride...

good luck to all!

We just walked out of Imagination and saw a line forming by the wall surrounding The Land, and of course had to know what everyone was standing in the line for...when we found out we jumped right in the line. We were some of the few fools who felt like standing in the rain...

I agree. We just rode it on Tuesday and loved it. We were going to Imagination when a CM dressed in a blue flight stewardess suit asked us if we would like to try out the new ride, so of course we said yes!

Unless you are VERY, VERY, VERY easily motion sick, Soarin should be no problem at all. It is VERY gentle (like a hang glider, not a roller coaster) and the picture doesn't fly by you since it isn't a jet engine or anything, you just glide past things. Body wars makes me a little queasy, but Soarin was just a blast and I suffered absolutely no ill effects. I would ride it over and over again if they'd let us.

I think Soarin is about as bad as Peter Pan on the motion sickness level... meaning zero unless you have a very sensitive equilibrium!

If you are there anytime before the opening, go ahead and check the side near the entrance to the Imagination ride and you might get lucky and get to try it out!

That was a big help, thanks! I think we'll definitely give it a go when we are there in May. I won't go on Mission Space again because that one really got me good last year!

Oh, good...maybe we'll see you there! :earsboy: I can't wait to see all the new things since we were there last year!
