Is Soarin' a fast-loading ride??

Not really. There are two theaters, but the ride can only hold 87 people in each theater. The theater changes out about every 6 minutes or so, so I'd put hourly capacity at about 1,700, which is pretty low for such a big E-ticket. It looks like the only way to avoid long waits on this one (at first anyway) is to either hit it right at opening or use FastPass.

Is there a "single person" line for people going on alone?

Theater? I thought it was a glider or something from the pictures?

just got back from wdw.went on soaring last week we got a chance to be vips and got a backlot tour. ride is not open to general public till may 05 or so we were told. the queuing area is like an airport the ride is ace yes you go gliding over california you sit in a simulator and you really feel like you are flying we were told they are still developing the ride some things could have been better but still a brill ride

You sit in a row of seats designed to look like a glider. You are in front of a giant screen where the movie is shown.

Yes, it moves pretty slow and the line fills fast. Do it first thing right when you enter, or do it for EMH or get a fast pass. The ride is amazing and worth the wait. It feels very real!

The one in CA has fast pass so I am sure it will. The height requirement for that one is 40".

O.K. folks, I am still debating on if I want to get on this thing or not! I am not fond of heights. How is the set up of the seats? Is it like all 87 peope are lifted up at the same time in one big group? Do your feet dangle, or is there some type of flooring under your feet to rest your feet on for "security"? Thanks for as much information as you can provide. :flower:

There are 3 "levels" of seats, each with I think 2 rows of people. They raise the entire 2 rows up at once and the 3 cars sit above and below each other. You would want to be sure they seat you in the one closest to the ground (I don't remember in what succession they raise you in). Then you will only be about 10 feet off the ground-but it will feel like you are hang gliding. You feet DO dangle. You sit in a seat with a seat belt, but if it makes you feel better, you can use the extra belt that goes in between your legs if it fits. I am scared of heights also but his ride is ok for me even though it does give you that little tummy flutter you get when you are up high. I would never go on those rides that shoot you up and then drop you, or anything like a ferris wheel but I do ok when I am on this or on TOT maybe because it is inside?

Thanks! This information is GREAT! :flower:

Thanks again :earsboy: , looks like this will definitely be a popular ride, so I was hoping it would be faster loading.

One more question.....if you have a small child and they sit in the back rows, will they be able to see??

All of the rows end up with a front seat view as the rows cascade into one big panel in front of the screen.

Yes they will be able to see because you are at different levels. The front row which is the highest, the second is closer to the floor, and the back row is the nearest to the floor. The second and third rows will be able to see the feet of the rows above them.

And for those with security issues, although you are lifted up in the air, it's not like you're merely sitting on a bleacher with a seat belt. ;) There is a substantial seat back, and your are pretty enclosed (but not claustrophobically so) by the sides and back of each seat.

I also have been on this at DCA, and here's my description: SPOILERS!

Imagine sitting in a typical stadium-seating move seat with a high back, except made out of metal and padded. Now imagine that your theatre only has three rows of seats. Once you are belted in, the seats raise up, one row above another, until all three rows are suspended off the ground, and your feet dangle. You are all facing a giant movie screeen, on which is projected a movie taken from a hang-glider's point of view. Note that except for some gentle motion cues - a little left/right or tilt of an inch or two - there is no real ride movement during the ride. Then you are gently lowered back down. It's a great ride, and a true Disney attraction: exciting and different without having to spin or invert you.

Be well!

what about the seat belts? Are they individual belts or a bar that goes across the whole row of seats?

Deb

Seat belts are individual and there's a little red height indicator between the seats next to your heads--if a child's head doesn't reach it, then put the belt through the loop at the edge of the seat between their legs.
