Is September Too Hot???

Hello

I was considering booking my trip in September, but I have two little ones and I'm wondering if it will be too hot for them.
My other option is October, but they my daughter will be three and we will have to pay for tickets for her, is October a lot cooler?
What are the crowds like is September vs October?
Are there a lot of love bugs in September?
Does it rain alot?
Hurricanes?
My children will be 11 months and 2 almost 3
September with the promo going on would be cheaper, unless they most some October promo rates

We have gone in September the last five years and it is our favorite time to go. We have had really hot/humid weather, very warm/humid weather and just very warm weather. There is no guarantee what you will have. In 2007, there were all kinds of hurricanes anticipated and in our two week trip, we had one day of rain for about five hours total. We had more lovebugs this past September than we have had in previous Septembers. October is cooler, but you also have the Food & Wine Festival making Epcot busier than it is in September. We've gone the first week of September (starting the Saturday before Labor Day until the following Saturday), the middle of September and this year are going September 23 - 29 before we go to Marco Island for a week. It is the perfect time for us with low crowds and minimum waits.

September is one of the Value Season months, so it's lower than average crowds. We will be there Sept 23-28 this year to beat the more crowded October in Epcot.

Love Bugs - Everywhere, but just ignore them. At least they don't bite.

The forecast every day for the trip last year in late September was mid 80's chance of afternoon thunder storms. We just carried those dollar store disposable ponchos and used them as needed. No rain that was lasting, just passing storms. Early Sept can be hot and muggy.

Hurricanes, who can tell? I was at Disney during a hurricane and that was an adventure in itself. Hurricane season runs till November, so October has about the same chances. You could hardly find a safer place to ride out a storm than at Disney World. I know people in FL that head to Disney resorts during a hurricane for that reason.

With an almost 3 child, I'd go early and save the money.

It depends on what your idea of 'HOT' is. I went in the third week of September last year and did not find it too hot. There were two instances where I felt it was 'sticky' but it did not last more than 20 minutes (because we went inside to eat and when we came out, it had cooled off just fine). I prefer it a little warmer though because I like to enjoy swimming. I would go again in September - you have lower crowds too!

We went September 2010, and took my son who is 4, and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, but warm enough that you needed shorts and short sleeves. It was beautiful. Only one day did we have problems with Love Bugs. The rest of the time, they were there but not bothersome. Also, the crowds were not bad at all. We never waited more than probably 20 minutes on any ride. September is a perfect time to go!

DH and I love to go in September. This year it is just after labor day, but usually it is more in the middle or end of the month. We honestly have never even noticed the love bugs. It rained briefly one day, but for the most part it was rain free. The short or non-existent waits for rides is pure heaven and makes up for the extreme heat we encountered in 2009! Usually it is hot, but not overwhelmingly so, but that year, it was very hot! But we managed just fine with all the air conditioned shops and attractions and shows. Plus, with little ones, it's good to build in afternoon rests, so during the hottest part of the day, you can relax pool side or in your hotel. The evenings are quite pleasant. I think you'd love it in September and saving money on your DS's park admission is icing on the cake! Go for it!

The couple of times I have went in September, it was hot...humid....and yet still fun! It rained once, we ducked into a ride, by the time we can out, no rain, just steam coming up from the pavement.

I haven't ever seen a luv bug at WDW - seen plenty of them other places, they are annoying, but actually very harmless.

We are going in last October this year, so hoping it might be a little cooler.

we have gone in sept the past couple of years and the weather was not hot at all. in 09 we were there for 9 days and it rained 3 of those days butthe rain only lasted about 30 mins or so. also it was only really humid 1 or 2 days that we actually said something about it to each other. the temp was in the 80's or so but nothing that was unbearable. last year we went in october and the weather was not much different from setp. we did not get any rain in oct but the temp was about the same. my dw did mention one night that she thought it was a little chill out but it was still in the 60s. i would not worry about the weather in sept.

I'm told the humidity broke the day we left

The lovebugs were everywhere too, but that didn't bother me.

This year we booked the 3rd week in October.

All that being said, I am NOT a girl who likes 90+ heat with 90%+ humidity. I'm sure other people handled it just fine. It really took away from my enjoyment.

Judging by the other posters, it looks like it could go either way

We have gone in Sept. once and doubt we will ever do it again. The love bugs were very thick and the second we left our room we were sweating. It was hot and very humid. Standing and waiting for buses was pretty miserable. Restaraunts were very busy but ride lines were short.
I don't remember much rain.

We went the last weekend of OCt. into the first weekend of November the previous year and it was wonderful. It could get a little chilly at night but that was fine as we had sweatshirts and the pools were heated. I'd say we had PERFECT temps that trip. Again, not much, if any, rain.

The last trip we went in February 2008 superbowl weekend. Crowds and weather were both miserable. It was freezing, like seriously in the 30's, and raining much of our trip. I think SB was in tampa that year so I think we got a lot of that crowd while there. Oh how I wish I would have waited until the following week to go. Better temps, lower crowds.

I guess it depends on if it's worth it to you to have better weather but have to buy a ticket. To me, $220 in the big scheme of things would be well worth it for a week of much more enjoyable weather.

We always go middle 2 weeks of September. Temp tends to be high 80's - low 90's with a little rain in the afternoons. Perfect weather for me, not too humid at all.

There's just no way to say, at this point. I've been in September when it's been 80 and very comfortable the last week of the month, and that same week the next year was high 90's and intolerable humidity. Same goes for October. The beginning of the month can still be very hot (I have a vivid memory of almost keeling over from heat exhaustion on my first trip), the end of the month is much more temperate.

Personally, I'd go for September, since you'll save on not having to buy a ticket for your little one, the rates are lower, and crowds are generally lighter.

last year we went Sept 18-25. The weather couldn't have been more spectacular. It was in the mid to high 80's, not oppressively hot but warm enough to appreciate Splash Mountain! We didn't have a drop of rain except for the last night. And it really wasn't even that big of a deal. It's a really beautiful time of year to go..... the crowds are low. You will love going that time of year !!!

We're going in mid-late September because we've discovered that, weather-wise, it's a great time to go.

It's plenty warm enough to hit the water parks, but generally not quite as suffocating as July and August... Plus the crowds are WAY less, which can make it feel a lot cooler.

the love bugs are small black bugs that basically "travel in pairs"....(thus the "love" in love bugs)

they don't bite, but they're basically just annoying. we have them in Mississippi and the most annoying part is getting them off the bumper. When we went in Sept, we didn't encounter love bugs at all. Honestly, I wouldn't let it deter your trip.
