Is Red Lobster Lobsterfest REAL lobster?

Chain food is mostly nasty.

Long time ago, I did temp job for seafood plant in the billing department and Red Lobster was a big customer they always ordered bottom of the barrel quality seafood.

They do have great "crack" bread.

I wouldn't eat there unless its free and I'm really starving.

I shake my head at the olive garden crowd, its packed the food is very sub par and we have 3 real american Italian places with in a mile of the olive.

I guess some people like to be cattle when eating. I love to sit relax try new things that didn't come frozen or in a bag off a truck.

At least you admit that you're stirring the pot

FWIW, I tried the genuine RL cheese biscuit mix from Sam's Club and didn't like it as well as the copycat Bisquick version. I felt the seasoning mix tasted "off".

JMHO, though! Would be interested in others' opinions.

I've boycotted RL ever since they got rid of the Lobster Fondue...loved that stuff.

OK, 5 pages on (mostly) great reviews?? I must go to RL!!! I just need to find a way to lure my DH there without him knowing. Our closest one is almost an hour away & it's in the next state (which I don't know very well)......I'm going to research whether there's some sort of super cool Home Depot or something out there, so I can get him to druve to the area lol!

Yes, they do. Although I'm not completely sure I can recall what is on it. Mac and Cheese (Kraft maybe?) and popcorn shrimp are on there I think....

Thank you! I just found the kids menu on their website-they have grilled chicken and chicken fingers, so my daughter will be fine Now to just scheme to get my husband there.....

I would suspect Red Lobster gets their lobster from "fish farming", no? You can learn about fish farming at Disney, even!! Although certainly not to the scale Red Lobster does it, which can't be healthy.

But that can be said for most seafood these days. =/

However, it is definitely real lobster. BUT!! The Lobster & Langostino Bisque at Red Lobster is the best darn soup I've ever tasted. Oh, if I could eat that daily without any consequences on my weight and wallet, I most certainly would!!


I've also heard from a Red Lobster employee that their Cheddar Biscuits actually don't have any real cheese in them, thus making them lactose free. I was also able to buy a dozen for only 4 dollars.

Lobster isn't practical to farm. They take years to grow to market size and need to scavenge the ocean floor for food. Atlantic (Maine) lobster come from a sustainable fishery.

As for West vs East Coast, there isn't much availability of live Pacific spiny lobster. Most lobster served here comes from the East Coast and carries a substantial shipping cost.

Lobster tails are typically frozen and can be from different sources.

She is actually not a carbs girl.....my very strange child loves protein, veggies, & fruit. But she loves to go out to eat, so she will be excited for chicken, veggies, and a restaurant lol!

No, but that sounds awesome. My three year old would love that.

We went on Tuesday for lunch before this thread was opened. My DD was thrilled with her popcorn shrimp and broccoli. The girl loves her broccoli.

South Louisiana girl here, we have a Red Lobster in two locations that I know of . It amazes me it stays in business down here! I have bought the biscuit mix from sams , but only ate at restaurant once in my 40 years. Bland and mediocre, don't have any desire to go back.

Real lobster and better than you would expect for a mass chain. But the biscuits are the reason to go.

That's pretty much my opinion as well. A step up from most chain restaurants, but much better lobster will be found elsewhere. A lot depends on the cooks at each individual location. I had a really tasty mahi mahi platter a while back, but overall I'd rate RL as just a little better than average.
