Is Poly worth it for one night?

Cannot add another night onto my reservation at the Swan. Would you stay at the Poly for one night or is it a waste?

We have done one night at a variety of the Deluxe resorts. Mostly because travel to central Fl at least every other week and my wife will join me occasionaly. We stay up by UCF (northeast Orlando) the nights i have to work and then will spend one night in WDW. You cant really fully appreciate all the resort has to offer but it has given us a great opportunity to decide if we will come back for extended stay. Poly certainly is one of our fav's, with one night you could use the pool (if warm enough), go to the Lua, get a room with MK view and enjoy fireworks from the room.... The Poly is a bit more pricey than Swan but we think worth it.

I LOVE the Poly but personally, I don't think it is worth it for one short night. Consider that you won't be able to "move" into your room until after 3 pm (most likely). That means you have to hurry up and pack, move, wait or leave bags, then go to your new room late afternoon, stay one night and leave. At 300 plus per night I don't see how it is worth it. No time to really enjoy the place.

I think its worth it if your going to have a resort day or two. You can check in early and use the resort facilities even if your room ins't ready. And you can also use the facilities the next day. If its just for a room to sleep I would stay someplace cheaper. Just MHO!

Just too much of a hassle checking in and then leaving the next morning. Most of the time spent there would be just for sleeping. We have stayed at the Poly quite a few times, its a beautiful resort but of late don't believe its worth the money. We've been doing WL and with the Poly savings, staying alot longer in the World.

The Polynesian is our favorite resort and I would definitely stay for one night if I could enjoy the pool and the tropical setting for a full 24 hrs. We usually stay concierge but if we weren't, I'd do it like this:

Get up early, pack and take a taxi over to the Poly.
If my room wasn't ready(hopefully a centrally located room), I'd check my luggage w/bell svcs and take my previuosly packed day bag to the pool and change in a nearby restroom.
If I hadn't had breakfast, I might go to Kona for a great cup of java and breakfast.
If I wanted to stake out a good pool spot, then I'd park myself there and go to Captain Cook's for some carry-out breakfast. I'd enjoy my pool day and periodically check in with the front desk to see if my room was ready.
when my room became available, I would send one person up to the room to await the luggage.
I'd then return to the pool and spend the rest of my time at the Poly as planned. Hopefully, you'll a have a good chunk of the next day to have fun with Poly activities(boating, making leis in the lobby, LapuLapus at the bar etc.. Have fun! Susan

I generally don't even bring my luggage. just get up - get on the bus to the MK - then ride the monrail to Polyn and check in. if your room is ready great - go back and get your luggage (if you don't have a car - yea a taxi - unless it is a little bit of luggage).

if not you have a room until 11 am - at 11 am I move my luggage to the Polyn.

then might go to the parks, or explore the Polyn. It is a beautiful resort.

use to spend the first 4 days at another resort - going to the parks. then the finally day went to a deluxe resort and just enjoyed the resort. didn't even do the parks that day.

If you do decide to do it, I'd do as some of the other posters suggest, and JUST enjoy the resort, not leave it for the parks!

My plans were to leave Naples at 7 am (we are 3 hours south), try to check in if possible and then go to DTD for shopping and lunch, head back to the resort around 2 and stay there all night, dinner at Kona. Lounging by the bar with a cocktail is right up my alley!

We will move to the Swan the next day (we will be there for 5 nights) but would like to check out at noon, breakfast at Ohana....cannot wait!

DH has always wanted to stay here but at $300 + per night it gets very expensive, so I hope he will be happy with one night!

When you check in see if you can get a late check out. I have checked out as late as 1pm. I think you and your hubby will love the resort. The grounds are beautiful. Take a walk at sundown when the torches are lit. It's quite romantic. Make sure you head out to the beach when it's time for Wishes. It's quit a different and wonderful experience seeing the fireworks that way.

My situation is a little different than yours, but we have never stayed at the Poly before and are trying it for one night before our cruise. We plan to get there in the early afternoon and if our room is not ready, I'll let the kids swim while DH and I have a drink by the pool. We have ADR's at Kona the next morning before we leave for the port. I hope this will give us a taste of what the resort "feel" is like to see if we would ever leave the GF for a Poly stay!

I'm pretty much doing the same thing as you, only at the end of the trip.

We booked the Swan, then couldn't get airfare back so we wanted to add a night. They didn't have availabilty so we booked one night at the BCV's.

I definitely think it's worth it! We'll be ready to go to the parks that morning and just check out and have bell services take care of moving the luggage. Since the BCV's are so close by, we'll stop in and check in early but otherwise, it's no big deal to make the switch.

I was choking at the AAA discount rate of $320, but a room only code came out today and saved me $120 off the one night! It ended up costing less for the one night at BCV than it did per night at the Swan and I get a teacher discount there!

You might want to check and see if the code works for your date.

We did a mini trip back in June for the Star Wars weekend at MGM. We spent a few night at the Beach Club and went to MGM and Epcot. For our final night, we moved to the Poly. We checked in around 11:00a.m. and our room was ready. We spent the day at the pool, then had dinner at the Kona Cafe. We finally left for the MK around 8:30 p.m., and stayed late for the extra magic hours (MK was open until 2:00 a.m. that night). At 1:40 a.m., we were beat and decided to head back. It was so nice that we only had a short monrail ride back to the resort. We had breakfast the next morning at the Kona again, hung out at the hotel a little longer, then checked out. We still had time to cruise over to Epcot for a couple of hours before we had to leave for the airport. For us, it was totally worth it to move to the Poly. We had plenty of time to enjoy the resort and still get some park time in.

I personally think staying one night at the Polynesian or any Deluxe Resort is not enough to time to enjoy it.
