I booked quite awhile back. I knew we'd be coming at a busy time of year and wanted to book before the rates went up. I was given the standard room rate of $89/night. I don't know if they do that all the time, but I've heard other people say that if you call instead of booking online, they'll usually give you a cheaper rate. I think it also depends on the time of year that you call.
I always ring hotels for the best deals, I first look online at their website for the best deal or special (even if not valid for my period of travel), then knowing the best deal i can get online I call them during working hours and ask for the reservations manager and say I am ringing around for quotes and am after the best possible deal for my stay, be sure to quote any web specials if the price is higher. I typically save 10 to 20% on the best online special but you have to have a bit of the gift of the gab if you know what I mean...
thanks y'all for the info.
shucks I should have called way back when we booked this instead of booking online. Now it's closer to the date and it appears price online is going up... and I can't call and act like I'm pricing out reservations when I already have one booked with them, can I?
