Is Park Vue Inn worth $50.00 more/night than HOJO?

I booked quite awhile back. I knew we'd be coming at a busy time of year and wanted to book before the rates went up. I was given the standard room rate of $89/night. I don't know if they do that all the time, but I've heard other people say that if you call instead of booking online, they'll usually give you a cheaper rate. I think it also depends on the time of year that you call.

I always ring hotels for the best deals, I first look online at their website for the best deal or special (even if not valid for my period of travel), then knowing the best deal i can get online I call them during working hours and ask for the reservations manager and say I am ringing around for quotes and am after the best possible deal for my stay, be sure to quote any web specials if the price is higher. I typically save 10 to 20% on the best online special but you have to have a bit of the gift of the gab if you know what I mean...

thanks y'all for the info.
shucks I should have called way back when we booked this instead of booking online. Now it's closer to the date and it appears price online is going up... and I can't call and act like I'm pricing out reservations when I already have one booked with them, can I? :rotfl:

I checked prices for PVI back in October and when I called to book in January the price had gone up. I called the hotel and they honoured the original price. It would be worth your while to call and ask for the price match.

The staff are very friendly and accomodating.

Definitely call and ask. It can't hurt. I would just say *I've heard such great things about your hotel, and have found so many others who are staying there/booking there for this price or that price...?* and then ask about the lower rate.

not saying wed change but can you tell me more about this place?
what is the social hour all about? I have resvation at hojos 100 a night for the kids suit im not saying id change but some the posts here make me think about things

I have stayed at both places and we will be staying at the Park Vue Inn from now on. It is so much closer it's super clean, staff is very friendly, and the beds are really comfortable. The breakfast is a bit more than continental as they have hot items the social hour is from 5-7 and has soup, salad, and then various items like hot dogs, corn dogs, mini tacos, pasta, enchiladas it changes everyday. I think soup, salad, and soda is standard though. You can also grab cold waters from the lobby at any time Free and they also have warm cookies in the lobby. When we arrived last month we were greeted by 2 gift bags. It was my Mother in law and my daughters birthday they both had balloons and a goody bag with candy, mugs, and a coupon for a free birthday cake from coldstone. I just felt they went above and beyond. We also had a welcome basket with wine, fruit, and water. I recommend them to everyone.

wow sounds like i may want to look at it jsut saw on face book they have a save 25% from facebook fans.
Im just calling an getting prices an ill see humm

do you have to pay for parking here?
we have reservations at hojo at the entertainment rate. with the facebook promo, the difference is $30/night.
considering changing but not sure if it's worth the $30/night.

I'm almost positive parking is free. Check their website, it should let you know for sure.

I can't speak for Park Vue specifically because we have never stayed there, but in December we stayed in the BWPPI next door and I LOVED the short walk. We stayed in DLH in June, and I gotta say, that short walk really pulls me toward doing BWPPI again. At the end of the night, it was great to just walk across the street. And even at BWPPI, the breakfast isn't great, but it's enough to just get you going so you can get to the parks early, not wasting lot of time on breakfast. Have fun no matter where you stay!

Parking is free. The pool closes at 10pm, but not too strictly enforced in my experience.

Thank you for the pool hours, we are staying here in July for the first time, we stayed at BWPPI last time so I am exicted to hear the great reviews. :thumbsup2

PVI sounds super nice!

We are die hard HoJo fans! But mainly we like it for the kid's water park and the awesome ET card discount.:thumbsup2

For any family with young kids, use your ET card and the HoJo's just can't be beat!

However...for folks without kids or with older children, I would imagine that the HoJo's wouldn't be as much of a draw. I can certainly see my family staying somewhere much closer as DS gets older. I look forward to trying the PVI someday, since it seems like everyone really enjoys it!

So to the OP...I say, evaluate what's most important for YOUR family.

Personally, for my family...the pool/water park is as much of a draw as Disney is...so it's a MUST for us. DS would be crushed if we stayed somewhere else!:sad1:

Like so many others have said...you can work around the breakfast costs. So I wouldn't base your decision too much on cost (although price IS always a factor) but instead on the amenties each hotel has and on it's location.

With that said, I'm not sure what price you are paying per night at the PVI but have you looked at ET card rates for the HoJo? Our room is $59 night and IMO that rate just can't be beat! And with breakfast foods from home and free grocery delivery from Vons, my food costs are practically nothing!

Both hotels have excellent reviews here, so go with what works best for your family! Have fun!!:goodvibes

How do you go about getting the Facebook discount? I do not have a facebook but my kids do. :)

"Friend" them on Facebook and they should post discounts. Then I think you just call them directly and ask for that rate.

Oh man!
I just "liked" them on facebook and see a post that said anyone who calls that day (thurs) or Friday will get standard room rate $89 a night. Just missed out on that one.
there is another one that is 25% off and says if you book thru Feb 17th- but I called and they meant book your STAY up thru Feb 17th. LOL In other words a last minute booking (or within less than a month anyway. to me a few weeks away is booking last minute LOL)

Maybe they'll come up with new deals but probably not any that will work for me. I mean we booked bunks w/trundle and the deals will probably only be for standard rooms... and even if it's within a certain date most likely it will be for new bookings, not adjusting existing bookings. I'm not sure if they'd let me cancel mine and rebook and likely not to have that room available (shortly before the time we'll be there) to book then cancel our original one. We'll probably have to pay the much higher price booked already :(

While Parking is free, there is a resorts fee. $2.30 per day. So it's pretty trivial.

Is it just me or is location kind of a non issue, I mean we are talking an extra maybe 4 to 5 minute walk. My three year old had no problem going to hojo's. Funny how very important it is to some people.

I have never stayed at the PVI but my friends have. They said it was basic, but very clean and they would say there again. Personally I believe that all the hotels on that strip have to keep up with standards if they want the popular business of the Disney tourists. I would however stay here if the price was right.

I have stayed at the Howard Johnson which too was basic and clean, and it is no doubt a farther walk, but it really isnt that bad. Quite honestly most nights I was fine walking back to the Hojo, but there were other nights (After the night before having 3 hours of sleep before spending 9am -11pm in DL) where I was just too tired that the walk back made me think about crawling into a flower bed infront of McDonalds for the night. :rotfl:

What it comes down to is if you dont mind the extra 5 minutes of walk time. For an extra $50 a night, I would just stay at HOJO.

We've stayed at HOJO a few times.
It's in the eye of the beholder how much further the walk is. We didn't think it was a very long walk (it was MUCH further walking to/from Best western stovall's one time we stayed there -clear on the other side and around the corner LOL) - but there were a couple of times we wished we were staying right across the walk (primarily with child with blisters on her feet and major whining ensued -too big to carry her though LOL) :lmao:

But honestly we'd always stay HOJO if it was cheaper. This time I just checked the prices of closer places against HOJO and I guess since we don't have any discounts with HOJO it worked out about the same, so we're going with Park Vue this time.
(also our older two are now too old/big for the extra fun water stuff they have at HOJO... so comparing the other HOJO pool for big kids/adults to PVI's pool, no difference at all- except PVI's I'm hearing is heated.... and I don't remember seeing a hot tub near the other pool at HOJO- just saw one over by the kids themed water area. Although that may have changed since we last stayed there in late 2008)

All things considered- if HOJO was CHEAPER, I'd go with it and do that walk.. it's really not that far. I'd kill for a place to stay, at that price, that walking distance at WDW which is never ever gonna be possible obviously. but if they are the same... well gonna give PVI a go this time.
