Now that's funny.

It was meant to be funny, but when I'm not laughing about it, I am crying. Has there ever been a candidate for President or VP who didn't do press conferences? Or who didn't do the Sunday morning shows? It's amazing how we've been dumbed down after 8 yrs of Bush (who I voted for, so I take part of the blame.) In every respect, our position in the world has fallen precipitously.

2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Where does Trinity Church espouse its parisihoners are inherently superior to anyone? How has Trinity Church discriminated against nonblacks? Do you know for a fact that the only congregants at this church are black and that the church has not welcomed other races or nationalities?

No, I don't think Palin is crazy. I think she's just a flighty soccer mom who got sucked into this race for image sake & she's in WAY over her head...

I agree with theis wholeheartedly. The positions she's held in Alaska just do not qualify, or maybe better put, prepare her for this big stage. She's like a deer in the headlights...perpetually.

She's obviously smart enough on some level, a very good fighter and self rightous to a fault but with no experience of this magnitude and with so many skeletons in her past she's just...Gone.

McCain really screwed the pooch here and it's going to turn what was looking like a close race into a rout.

If I formed a church that was "unappologeticly white" Had a white value system and pleged allegiance to all white leadership who espouse and ebrace the white value system. Would you not call me a racist?

As for your question--no I (speaking only for myself) would not call you racist for assembling a group of like-minded white people unless you and/or your group had a long-term record of not allowing participation in your organization from those who are not white and the reason for the nonparticipation is strictly because the person is not white. There is no such indication that Trinity Church does not allow nonwhites to attend its services, join its congregation or participate in its outreach activities.

From your definition, I highlighted the pertinate words. Anytime anyone is advocating for a single race or seperating races it is prejudiced.

The term "white" is exclusively racial, while "black" is not. "Black" can denote an ethnic group just like "Italian", "Irish", "Jewish."

I think you're very confused about why these threads are posted. It is to help uncommitted understand just how bad a decision to elect McCain/Palin is.

Bush hatred led the Republican Party to nominate one of its most moderate members. That got my vote! Then, outrage by the right-wing religious reactionaries prompted the Republican Party to pollute the ticket with an unqualified, power-hungry, intolerant person. That shifted my vote from McCain to Obama.

I doubt "socialism is coming" -- that sounds like "the sky is falling" -- but if it does, the blame for it rests solely on the right-wing religious reactionaries in the GOP who polluted what could have been the saving grace of America.

Allow me to clarify:

As long as there is religion, we will always continue to have a certain percentage of the overall population engage in irrational extremism.

My point was that if Obama should win, it will be the first time that the winning presidential candidate did so without 'selling his/her soul' (along with the inevitable IOU's) to that aforementioned group of people.

If you have a look at the news reports, you'll see that Obama has spent far more time talking about his supposed "Christian faith" than McCain. However, I doubt his soul belongs to Christians . . . that's only my opinion, of course. I do not pretend to speak for God and claim to know what's in his heart.

Well, that couldn't have referred to his race, right? That was a reference to his membership in the ethnic group.

Another thing about a church self-identifying as black, is that for centuries the distinction between black and white churches was forced upon people. So, over hundreds of years "black church" came to mean something that people want to preserve. Nothing wrong with that.
