Is Pal Mickey worth getting ?

There are four of us in my family. Three of us could care less about PM. My one son LOVES him. I thought he would get tired of wearing him, he doesn't. He gets so happy when he can tell us a new fact or wait time when we are at DW. Santa even brought him new clothes at Christmas for our next trip.

What exactly does a Pal Mickey do? Now I'm tempted to get one when we go in August.

He is an interactive plush type doll that will give information about showtimes, attractions, parades, where characters are, tips in the particular park you are in, as well as telling you jokes and singing songs. All in all, he has about 700 different things he can say.

He interacts with emitters that are placed around the park. To work properly he needs to be turned on and facing forward before entering the turnstiles. That is how he "knows" which park he is in. He'll welcome you to the park, and at the end of the day he'll tell you what fun he had. At home he'll still sing songs and tell jokes, but of course the park-related things only work there.

Lots of fun! I love taking him, especially when I have him dressed up in cute outfits. I get more comments and meet tons of people that way. When several of the Pal Mickey Club went on a cruise in January, it got to the point where people would stop to see what outfit we had on him. The one time I walked somewhere without him, I got a ton of people saying, "WHERE is he?!"

I'm sure there are some people who don't enjoy it, or think it's too much work to carry him, but that's okay. Lots of us do enjoy our Pals!

By the way, he actually does work IN The Haunted Mansion as there is an emitter in there.... he gets scared!

Where do you buy them? I checked disneyshopping.com and couldn't find one. :confused3

it's theme park merchandise, so you won't find it at disneyshopping.com or the disney store.

from disney, you'll find him pretty much all over WDW. he's also available at the WOD in NYC. or you can buy him mail order through WDW Merchandising.

he retails for $65, but word is the disney outlets in orlando have the previous tuxedo version (functionally the same) for $35

you can also buy them off eBay, sometimes used, sometimes the tuxedo version at an inbetween price or through a personal shopping service and pay a premium.

We love our Pal Mickey ... we bought one when he first came out and then we were allowed to upgrade to the latest (Sorcerer Mickey) when he started acting really strange (talking about better get in line for Fantasmic! at 1:00 in the afternoon!).

He's full of cute park information, and he tells funny (silly, really) jokes. He also plays a couple of cute games that continue to work even outside of the parks!

One trip he was there with a friend's dance team diring some tropical depression and she said it was a lifersaver, it gave weather forcasts, park openings and what rides were open. I didn't know it could do all of that.
AFAIK, it can't.

I just receieved mine in the mail today:banana: We ordered it from the Outlet mall. It was a total of $42 including shipping. He is in a tuxedo. I havent listen to him talk except one time. Hes kind of loud and didnt want to wake up my 2 1/ 2 yr old from her nap. She will be so excited to see him when she gets up:thumbsup2

sunlver.. i was interested in buying one, but how do i go about ordering one? i live in nj, so i can't get to the orlando outlets. thank you so much! :)

I found the outlet number on here somewhere. We just called the number and ordered it. I think if you do a search for the outlet number on here it will come up.

thank you.. i do have another question.. can you tell the big difference between the newer version (sorcerer) or the older one (tuxedo)?

I have no idea.. the one we got has a tuxedo . The phone number on my receipt is
407-363-6200
hope this helps

I may have to add this to my list of things to put it the boys baskets for when we arrive!!

We've had ours since they first came out. We've taken him back everytime we've been back to Walt Disney World. We tie him to our Backpack so he doesn't go anywhere. At times, I admit carrying him around everywhere isn't a lot of fun. Overall, we enjoy him and he's worth it. He entertains us with information about the different parks we go to. We can also play games with him to pass the time in line, etc. As another posted stated, he's ours. I'm 41. My DH is 45. We enjoy him!

i doubt there is one. you can try calling 407-354-3255 and asking. they may mail order, not sure. now you got me thinking about trying for one myself for my next trip.

that's the number to call to order one. the other number given is for WDW Merchandising - the only option there is the current one.

the main difference between the tuxedo version and the current is that the current is dressed as sorcerer mickey and the tuxedo one is wearing a tuxedo. but you can buy additional outfits for them as well.

it's $33 from the outlet and $9.95 for ground shipping, which you're supposed to allow 10-20 business days for. i believe they have expedited shipping as well.
