I'm thinking about getting Pal Mickey on our next trip in June (Just Dh and I ). We have another planned for Christmas with the kids and thought he might be cool.

Do you think he is worth it ? Where is the best place to get him ?

He goes for alot on Ebay. Probably as much as he is new. So I figure I will get one at the park when we arrive instead. Then he is the newest version too.

when Pal Mickey first came out, i planned to get one - couldn't wait, in fact! that is, until i actually saw it, heard it and realized i'd have to carry it around all day - that's when the excitement wore off - it is cute, though!

there are 2 1/2 versions. ideally you want one of the latest 2 (tuxedo mickey or sorcerer mickey). the tuxedo was the HCOE version which promptly was pulled off the shelves even before the celebration ended as I recall. I've heard reports that the outlet is selling him for $35. full retail for a new (sorcerer) one is $65.

i think the biggest complaint i've ever heard about him is just lugging him around. the newer versions do come with a neck lanyard. if you can justify the price ($65 is a bit steep to me, but $35 sounds pretty sweet) and someone's willing to carry him, go for it.

he also operates at home / away from the parks via games and jokes.

We've had ours since he first was available.

He has made MANY trips back to WDW with us.

i doubt there is one. you can try calling 407-354-3255 and asking. they may mail order, not sure. now you got me thinking about trying for one myself for my next trip.

If you cna find one on Ebay cheaper than retail or plan to use yours multiple times. We bought ours when it first came out and have used it 3 trips and he has been on 3 other trips with friend so he has paid us back.

I have seen people buy them for each child they havve which I think is crazy.

One trip he was there with a friend's dance team diring some tropical depression and she said it was a lifersaver, it gave weather forcasts, park openings and what rides were open. I didn't know it could do all of that.

I guess it si up to you.

i think he has over 700 phrases (the current edition) stored in him. he can't be made to say *anything*, but whatever those phrases are, he can be triggered to say'm.

i've never heard of him doing any of that (i have to admit, my experience with him is very limited), but i've also heard of him doing supposedly stranger things.

Well, that's because he CAN'T.

He doesn't talk about "park things" (like "opening times") outside the park.

And "weather reports?"... nope.

(Although it IS "April Fool's Day" so you never know if this is just "a'funnin'" or "confusion.")

---------------------------------------------------------------

But he would be a MUCH more INTERESTING investment

IF he COULD do a few more things...

Such as:

-Dispense Fast Passes.

-Make meal reservations 30 minutes in advance.

-Fire his own Buzz Lightyear Laser blasts (extra points if you hit Emperor Zurg).

-Clear an extra-wide space on Main Street for parade-viewing 10 minutes before start-time.

-Provide instant access to ride in the monorail operator's cabin.

-Grab the attention of the CM in charge of finding "Honorary Parade Marshall Families."

-Locate "front and center" last-minute seating at Fantasmic! (on nights when the wind is blowing AWAY from the audience).

-Provide speedy half-empty bus-trips to your resort (at closing time) from all parks.

-Escort you to the mostly empty "E-Ticket" attractions at evening EMH's.

-And make ANY mug a "free refills for your entire stay" mug that works in any WDW establishment.

Now, THAT would be a valuable Pal Mickey!

;)

My DD loves hers. We got him last July. She is handicapped so she gets to ride all day. Mickey kept her entertained and told her some cool stuff. She kept talking to him all day and I thought she was asking me stuff. LOL

If you are staying at POP Century there is a Pal Mickey swap going on. That might be a good way to try him out. :goodvibes

I've had mine since November, and he's already returned once (January). I use a lanyard to keep him on my shoulder, so I can easily get to him and he faces the transmitters wherever I go.

I LOVE him. He's adorable, and he's a piece of the magic that I have at home.

I'm 42 and he's mine, not my kids.

IMHO, he's worth it. He adds to the fun while there, and he isn't very heavy at all...unless you don't like carrying anything in the parks at all.

We love our Pal Mickey. We bring him back each trip - use a caribiner to clip him to my bag or belt loop. I got him for my DS & he still likes him alot. This trip, I'll probably get the new version. We've been told he's a little louder than the one we have.:goodvibes

We bought ours in 2003. I am not a big fan. He's really cute....but it was somewhat annoying to bring him everywhere.....and I couldn't hear what he was saying 80% of the time....and I missed his vibrations most of the time. We had a lanyard for him....but he's not small....so carrying him on a lanyard was not fun.

He's not going back to WDW with us this week. Actually, we cannot find him right now. I saw him 2 wks ago...but we moved bedrooms around and now he's hiding. Otherwise, I'd bring him down and give him to a child who might enjoy him.

I'm one who happens to think he's fantastic! In fact we have a "Grown-ups Pal Mickey Club" where we dress him up in lots of fun outfits. (and wow do people ever comment in the parks!) We even did a Pal Mickey Cruise.

If you'd like to see various people's PM's dressed up you can see them at: www.palmickey.net (its a free club if you want to join by the way)

I've had mine since 2005 and LOVE him. Like a PP said, he's also MY piece of the magic and the kids at home know that he is NOT a toy. They think I'm nuts but I don't really care....

We returned from our latest WDW vacation a few weeks ago and I didn't see that many visitors with PMickey. I think that he is losing a bit of his popularity :sad2: . He is a pretty expensive souvenir and not many visitors amy be willing to pay the hefty price for what he does....

Catrinabeach....We never go during the summer since we have the Florida Seasonal pass, if you like you can borrow ours and see if you like it. I don't have a problem shipping it to you. Let me know, Bill

i wouldn't say he's unpopular. i myself didn't really notice him when i was there last time, but i heard no less than 3 of them within 10 minutes or so when i was on the maharajah trail.
