Is paint the night coming to WDW for the 45th?

I don't see them doing anything special for the 45th. It's not a milestone year. They did nothing special for the 40th...why would they do the 45th? Now the 50th....that I could see some type of celebration.

I wanted this rumor to be true, but it seems like Disney has run out of time if it was really going to fire up a new parade at WDW this fall.

While I know WDWNT has a habit of doing a copy/paste job from other places, their recent article on PtN left the door open to it coming to WDW. I'll leave it for others to debate on the factualness of this.

I've heard several things. Paint the night goes to WDW, it goes seasonal at DL, or maybe DLP for the 25th anniversary.

With the Disneyland 60th coming to a close and the Magic Kingdom 45th coming soon it has been announced that the wonderful Paint the Night Parade in Anaheim is closing in sept. Do you thing it's headed to Orlando? I hope so as the MSEP is showing its age and is the same parade I saw when I was 10 (I'm 43 now) so an update is long overdue

Well, the thing is PTN ends around the time of Halloween. Last year they didn't do the Halloween parade at the party, they did PTN instead. Then after Halloween comes Christmas, where they do the Christmas Parade twice a day.(Last year they did the Christmas parade in the evening instaed of night because of PTN) So with all that considered it could come back after Christmas or when the crowds pick up during Easter. But then comes the question, What would happen to it during the festivities.

Myself personally, I hope that PTN does NOT come to MK as I feel it doesn't fit the theme of MK. MK really need some thing grand and majestic (*cough**cough* Spectomagic *cough**cough*) and PTN is very hip and pop(that's the best words I come up with). Fingers crossed for a new parade at 50th.

That all being said none really knows the future of the parade.

They didn't really have a Halloween party at DL. They didn't even call it a parade, just a "cavalcade". They are adding a Headless Horseman this year, but still referring to it as a "cavalcade" so not encouraged that it will be any longer. That "cavalcade" only happens during Mickey's Halloween Party, so guests visiting but not doing the party are left now with no night parade and no Fantasmic.

I've heard the parade will go seasonal at DL.

However how doesn't paint the night fit the theme? MSEP originated in DL then came here. Spectromagic was essentially an MSEP upgrade, and PTN is an upgrade of all night parades. Spectro is dead, it was destroyed and put in a land fill.

I also heard PTN might come out at peak seasons, which would make it seasonal. It ticks me off substantially since we make it a point to never visit at peak times. They never felt the need to make Fantasmic a seasonal show. And I'm quite sure that weekends even during a non peak time at DLR are very crowded and in need of night entertainment. That all adds up to me thinking this is nothing more than DLR cheaping out.

But I agree, I see no reason it would not fit thematically at the MK. I think PTN is quite grand.

I feel (I may be alone on feeling this) that MK architecture is very regal and grand and Spectromagic had a grand theme to it due to the Music ect. PTN music is essentially a pop song and 3 of the movies/floats are pixar(which I have noproblem with but if doesn't really fit with a castle park).

I alredy knew Spectromagic was gone, I was just citing an example.

Disneyland is the original park that Walt built. I'd argue that park is more regal than MK. Disney isn't just Classic Disney anymore, they have Pixar, marvel, and Star Wars. They are going to put those properties in the parks. I haven't seen PTN in person but I think it's the best night parade they have ever done.

I personally think the best night parade is Tokyo Dreamlights, now if we could something like that for the 50th, I would be so happy. I LOVE the its a small world finale and everything about is just WOW.

Okay I forgot about dreamlights. That is a great parade but I would say PTN is a modern day night parade with the screens and LEDs. I would guess Tokyo's next nighttime parade uses the same tech as PTN.

I agree but I acctually like the older light parades and how they are basically black and are strung with lights compared to the modern day lit sculptures.

That's probably the answer to your comment right there. It is very crowded, so they don't need to offer additional night time entertainment to get the people into the park. An added expense that they don't need.

I wonder if we start seeing crowds leave earlier though if there is no nighttime entertainment.

I'm going to disagree with that. I think if you have higher crowds, you need to offer more things to absorb the people, not less in some sort of a way to nudge them on out of the parks earlier.

It has always been Disney's approach to offer more entertainment in times of high crowds.

Ultimately, people leaving early because there's nothing to do without waiting in a very long line is not a recipe for making happy guests.

Parades cause a lot of congestion and it seems the majority of the people are trying to leave as soon as the parade is over. People start staking out their positions along the parade route over an hour before it starts, so they aren't spending money. We try to leave at least half an hour before a parade starts and based on transportation lines, we usually aren't the only ones. I will probably get "stoned" for this comment, but I would be perfectly happy if they did away with the daily parades altogether.
