Is Osama really dead?

I think it was kind of fishy that they dumped his body into the sea. I understand Muslims are traditionally buried within 24 hours of death but absolutely no Muslims get buried at sea so all of that is total BS. I don't buy the whole "they don't want his followers to have a shrine to him" so that's why they buried him at sea BS either. Fishy circumstances or not guaranteed if he was alive he would have been releasing a tape where he was holding up a newspaper and showing the world he is very much alive. Will his death change anything? Probably not.

:lmao: No pun intended? :lmao:

Well this stuff makes sense. I guess he is dead.
I never know what to believe or who to believe. I always have to ask other people. I hate current events and political stuff because I never know what to think about any of it. Usually I just find out what other people think and then I go with that.

So the leader of the free world, the Vice President, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, the Speaker of the House, every Senator and Congressman, every major world media outlet, the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as countless other world leaders, and pretty much every other person in the world, save a few conspiracy theorists, has been saying he's dead for the past few days, but it took 21 strangers on an Internet chatroom to convince you that he's really dead?

God bless the power of the Disboards!

That is so sad.

Maybe you should start following current events and learning about politics and such, then maybe you'd be able to have conversations with your neighbors. :confused3

I can't remember who but someone asked what it would take my parents to believe it. I don't know, I didn't think to ask them that question when I was talking to them about it.
I would assume the photo, but to me that doesn't prove anything because photos can be pjotoshopped and stuff.
Oh well. I'm not going to think about it anymore because otherwise I will just keep going back and forth on what to believe.
I asked you and I asked my husband and stepson and you guys all think he is dead and so do they so I'm just gonna go with that. My parents are the only ones I've heard say they didn't believe it. So they're out voted.

Editing in to say to the above poster. I Did used to try to do that but I usually just confused the issues so then when I'd talk to someone about it, I'd end up looking dumb anyway because I mixed-up the issue with another issue. Current event stuff that's political is so boring and it's so hard to remember it all. Not my thing!

That's true. To the OP: It is like riding a bicycle; you have to practice. So the more you read about current events, the more things will make sense to you. Did you ever have a civics or current events class in high school?

Is there any reason that you cannot take facts, weigh them out in your mind, and then come to your own conclusion? What you believe should never be a "vote" between who said what.

Actually, Islam does permit burial at sea and there are guidelines as such.

In the case that a person dies on board a ship at sea and the body will not last long enough to allow it to be kept until the time it can be properly buried a burial at sea is permitted. Was this the case with Bin Laden? Nope. It just seems suspicious that they were in such a hurry to get rid of his body. What are they trying to hide? The excuse they used for the hurried burial was that he needed to be buried within 24 hours due to Muslim tradition yet they contradict themselves when they bury him in a distictly not Muslim way. You all can buy everything you hear on TV but this doesn't add up. Do I know what's really going on? Nope. But I smell BS. He probably is dead but I don't think it all went down like we're hearing and there is more to the story we aren't hearing.

My 4th grade teacher made us read the newspaper and report on a current event each week. I give her credit for instilling in me a need to know what is going on in the world.

OP, do you have an opinion of your own on anything? How do you formulate the opinion? Do the same thing here. Look at the facts presented, consider the source, and make a decision. It will be really healthy for you. I promise.

Yes I had to do those current event assignments in school too. I don't remember having to give an opinion though..it was like you just had to write a summary and then explain to the class. You never actually gave your opinion.

I guess I have two problems with this news stuff. First, I don't know who to believe. I usually would believe regular people over government. Second, I can usually see both sides of something- so you present your side, I totally agree, then the other side presents their side and it makes me completely change my mind, but then you come back with your side and you've convinced me to your side again. I guess I'm easily influenced.

You know what they say darlin'...

If you don't stand for somethin', you'll fall for anything.

Bin Laden is still dead, though.

I don't need or care about the details. He's dead and that's good enough for me. :thumbsup2
