When I went to Trader Joes a few days ago I bought a couple bags of groceries. The cashier asked me if I found everything and I told him I only came for clementines. :rotfl2: The problem is I forgot to buy their soy sauce, so I need to go back and I promised my 15yo I would bring him, which is a very expensive thing to do. Everything looks good to him!

The health risks of rBST milk surround the increased presence of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), a mediator of growth hormone action. According to a number of studies and an NIH technology assessment statement, the concentration of IGF-I is higher in milk from cows treated with rBST.
This is percisely what I was refering to. IGF-I flucuates in cows naturally to the tune of, IIRC, 20-25%. As a whole rBST shows in increase of IGF-I in cows of, IIRC, around 12%... less than the natural variation. It's possible to have a gallon of milk from rBST treated cows that actually has less IGF-I than a gallon of milk from an "organic" dairy. The bottom line is if IGF-I is a potential health risk to your kids, then the only logical thing to do is to take them off dairy products.

I think we can all agree what gender those noodles are... :rotfl2:

I can manage to not go there hungry, but there is no such thing as a non-hungry 15yo boy. Totally impossible! :teeth: The only thing worst is if I were to send him and his father. Not a good idea!

We only drink Soy
That only partly solves the "problem". As gross as this sounds, IGF-I is also found in human saliva. The FDA points out that the average person "consumes" as much IGF-I from this "source" each day as they do from drinking cows milk (rBST treated, or not).!

Does anyone have links that show how Horizons mistreats their cows? This brand is real common in our area and it would a shame to drop it.

Well ,I like to think I'm living green with shades of gray so I'll have to let the saliva stay. :teeth:

Does our body make it or our we getting from an external source?

Per the FDA:
IGF-I is a natural protein required for normal growth and
health maintenance. IGF-I is structurally and chemically similar
to insulin and is normally present in almost all body tissues and
fluids including human breast milk and saliva.

Abnormally low levels of IGF-I are associated with several
disease conditions including dwarfism, malnutrition, osteoporosis
and infertility. It has been suggested that a decline in
IGF-I levels in human tissue causes many of the degenerative
changes associated with aging.

I also found a reference that each day you ingest a couple of quart of your own saliva.
