Hi everyone!

Just want to make sure I have my facts straight:

In an effort to book a 2 bedroom villa at OKW, I was told no availability. However, the CM said that she had 1 bedroom units available as well as studios. When I questioned whether I could get a 1 bedroom and a studio connecting, she confirmed that I could. They would guarantee connecting rooms.

Am I correct in assuming this is a 2 bedroom non-dedicated villa?

Please someone assure me so that I can confirm this reservation.

Thanks so much for your help! :wave2:

To get a connecting 1 bedroom and studio, you need to book a 2 bedroom lockoff. If none are available, I would be leary of them guaranteeing connecting rooms, which would be the same as a 2 bedroom lockoff. You could end up with separate rooms. The difference with a lockoff is there is a separate entrance into the studio in place of the walk-in closet and a kitchenette in place of the 2nd bathroom sink.

If your first request was for a 2-B/R Dedicated unit and there was no availability, then next check for a 2-B/R lockoff which is a 1-B/R and connecting Studio.

This is reserved as a 2-B/R unit, not as separate 1-B/R and Studio. The points should be for a 2-B/R unit, not combined points for a 1-B/R and a Studio.

Be certain it is being reserved as a 2-B/R unit.

If you were told there were no 2 bedrooms available, then I would assume there are no 1 bedroom/studio (2 bedroom lock off) units that would connect. Call back and ask specifically for a lock off and see what answer you get.

While I would certainly call MS again and ask about reserving a 2BR lock-off, it's possible you would need to reserve a 1BR and a Studio and request that they be connecting. I think the resort will reserve a certain number of lock-offs as 2BR and the rest are held for 1BR and Studio reservations. In this situation, you would have to pay the higher number of points required for that type of reservation (a 1BR and a Studio will "cost" more points than a 2BR).

Call MS and ask again. Please let us know what you find out. :)

That disturbs me a little, Doc. I would think that if it was available, it shouldn't make any difference if it is booked as a 2 bedroom lock-off or as a studio and 1 bedroom "connected".

Be very careful that you use the word "connected" rather than "adjoining." In most of the hotel trade, adjoining rooms have a door between them, but at Disney they are simply next door to each other--or even across the hall. Only "connecting" rooms have the interior door. If you think your CM might be confused, ask about this specifically.

Without knowing the timeframe for this reservation, I think it's important that the resort would hold availability for the 1BR and Studios - at least until a certain time before arrival date.

If the dates are within the next 90 days, I would expect that nothing would be held any longer and lock-offs could be reserved in any fashion needed to fill the rooms, but would hope that at 10 months there would be some availability held in reserve. I don't know the timeframe used to hold rooms in this fashion, but I do know they do have some guidelines to make sure there are adequate 1BR and Studio accommodations available until some point in time before the arrival date.

At HH, they will usually not allow ANY lock-offs to be reserved as a 2BR except for HCA 2BR needs.

I'd still suggest calling MS again to ask to reserve a 2BR, but if there is no availability except as a 1BR and Studio, this reserve would probably be the explanation. If the dates are within 6 months, I would be troubled by the scenario- as I think that would be a reasonable timeframe to drop any reserve.

Okay, that makes a bit of sense to have a "reserve" a long ways out, but it would bother me if we were past the 7 month window and there was no way to book that lock-off.
