Is my contract stuck in limbo?

Makes sense, it would be unfair for owners who dont own resale to have to pay for that, thats how I feel about housekeeping charges in my dues, we never stay long enough in one hotel for a full cleaning 😐
The cleaning done between guests (before you arrive and after you leave) is a full cleaning, so how much do your many short stays cost owners in dues for housekeeping, compared to what it would cost if you stayed in one place for 8 nights or more so that you got a full cleaning during your stay? Think about it, if you stayed 2 nights in one room, 3 nights in another, and 3 in another, that’s 8 nights but 3 full cleanings instead of one. So why do you feel housekeeping charges in your dues are unfair? If DVC required reservations be at least 5 nights or longer, just think how the housekeeping portion of our dues would decrease.

Many other timeshares charge an extra housecleaning fee for stays that are shorter than a week.

They have to clean before and after no matter what. Many people do short stays. The people that stay 8 days get three cleanings for themselves. We get two. If everybody did long stays except for me then I see your point, maybe that would mean I was creating more cleanings than everyone else and should be charged, but there will be multiple cleanings no matter what.

Some hotels you cant even book more than a night (vgc) so charging extra for cleaning would be crazy imo. Not the owners fault avail is so slim causing super short stays inevitably.

I think we should all get daily cleanings but it is what it is.

If they add daily cleaning, it means that dues go up to cover it.

Right now, those that want it can pay extra. I think there are a lot of DVC who like not having someone coming in each day.

And, yes, they have to clean when someone checks out but those of us who do split stays are adding to the costs for cleaning by having more check outs.

One of the benefits of split stays that I enjoy is having a clean room more often than those that due a 7 night stay!!!

I wonder why PIT gave us daily housekeeping, I made sure they knew we were DVC, either way they win in the end because it made us enjoy our stay that much more to start saving for the purchase 🤣

Who knows but be happy!! Things can change over time too.

At one point, extra towels cost more. But they changed it and just built it into dues because I think people were just taking them from the pools and off carts when they saw them. Lol

Hilarious!

We pay a flat fee to DVC so some of thst covers MA services.

Just wanted to point out that DVD also pays so that is why they can devote more to direct purchases than resale.

They get to decide staffing and tasks.
What does MA stand for? I assume it's not for Massachusetts lol

This has been a great enhancement to the program.... And their willingness to bring coffee, soap, etc. etc.

Just bill it to the dues.... It will come out in the wash...

That said, if I want to buy a resale contract using the proceeds of this sale, when should I start looking?
up to you... you could, for example, finance the new contract and pay it off after the proceeds come through... Interest, even at a high percentage, wouldn't be a huge amount of dollars relatively speaking if paid off quickly...

This is a good idea. I just put in an offer on another contract :)

For me, that's a Nope Sandwich With Extra Nopesauce.

At most (all?) resorts, Housekeeping is the single biggest component of dues. For example, at Riviera, it's $2.17/pt for 2025. If you assume every room is cleaned every other day (and they probably aren't quite that often) then daily housekeeping doubles that.

I do not want to pay an extra $2.17/pt so that I don't have to re-use a towel.

Realistically, an intra-stay clean is not as complete as an inter-stay one, so it wouldn't double it. But still--I do not want to increase the component that is already the largest share of Dues to get an extra clean or two. There is a reason that I cannot think of a US-based timesahre that does daily cleanings. In fact, Disney is one of the most frequent I can think of---some Marriotts have a midweek tidy which is similar, but I'm not sure those haven't been dropped. What's more, several systems require owners with many short stays to pay extra for the extra cleans they impose on the system. Wyndham and WorldMark both do, for example.

Funny story: I was staying at a Doubletree a few days ago. On the second morning I could not find my towel for the life of me! Turns out the reason I couild not find it was that Housekeeping repalced it with a new one, folded and put away. I'm so used to staying in timeshares that it did not occur to me for about five minutes.

Member Administration. They’re the folks who deal w/ loading newly purchased points & other numbers type stuff. I think MA deals w/ MF (maintenance fees) payment issues too. Once you close on your new resale contract you’ll be waiting for MA to load your points.
MS is member services, who are the folks you usually deal w/ when you call about making reservations, changing guests, buying the dinning plan, etc..

Why do you assume that daily mousekeeping would double our housekeeping dues? Does DVC pay a flat rate to housekeeping cast every time they clean a DVC villa? Or do they simply pay the salaries of housekeeping cast? If they pay the salaries, the only way it would double our housekeeping dues is if daily housekeeping would force resorts to double their housekeeping cast.

We the DVC owners through our respective condo associations contract with some other Disney entity to employ housekeepers. We pay salaries and benefits. The more rooms that need to be cleaned on a given day, the more housekeeping personnel we’d need, thus the higher that expense would be. Daily housekeeping might not double that component of our dues, but it would certainly increase it a great deal compared to current housekeeping frequency.

Yeah I definitely agree it would increase. A lot of other timeshare systems don't offer housekeeping at all - guests are even expected to empty their own trash as needed. Some you have to strip the beds etc as well. DVC offers better housekeeping than most.

DVC is a timeshare-hotel hybrid. Many owners expect hotel services instead of the kind of service they’d get if they co-owned a cottage at the seashore with their best friend and took turns using it, which is the timeshare model.

And it’s most, not just a lot of, other TS systems that don’t offer any housekeeping.
