Is MVMCP worth the extra $$$$$?

We will be at DW on December 17th thru 23rd. The only available time for the party would be on December 18th. We were planning on going to MK that day anyway. Should we spend the extra 200.00 on the tickets or will we get to see basically the same thing in the following days. (Parades, shows, etc.)
Please tell me why I can justify spending an extra $200.00 on tickets to a park that we can go to for free all week.
I have heard that the MVMCP can be extremely crowded and fireworks are not until very late.
Thanks for your hlep.

You'll probably get a lot of disagreement with me on this, but I wouldn't do it. We went to the MVMCP on Dec 4th - don't get me wrong - we had a great time. But the only reason I did it was because supposedly we would not be able to see the Christmas shows during the day. Well, the ones I wanted to see were actually playing the next day all day while we were at MK. The parade is great, and it wasn't running during the day when we were there, but it will be by the time you are there. And I would think all of the shows would be playing too. So, you're looking at "snow" on Main Street (it was pretty, and my Florida chidren thought it was awesome!), hot chocolate and cookies, and a picture. We only paid $104 because one of my children was free since he's only two, but we won't be doing it again. It was fun, but I don't think it's worth the extra money if you're going to be in the park during the day anyway. The only thing you may miss is the fireworks. If you're in MK on a day when they are going to be doing the MVMCP that night, I don't believe they will be doing fireworks for the "day" visitors - they didn't when we were there. The fireworks were done at the party at 9:15 - they were pretty, but if you can time your MK visit on a day when there isn't a party that night, then you'll still be able to see them.

I think it's very worthwhile, but our family consists of 2 adults. I love seeing the Christmas parade at night and the party is much more festive - there is a certain "magic" that isn't present during the daytime. We also stay until closing and sleep late the next morning. If I had to pay for several children and it would be difficult staying late, I'd probably skip it.

If you're at WDW during the season...You must try it once.

We've been twice now and it's a family event that we will remember and cherish the rest of our lives.

Not sure, but your decision may be made for you. I think I saw somewhere this week at Disney, that December 18th was sold out. Could have been the 16th, but I thought it said the 18th.

As far as if it's worth it??? We enjoyed it, and would have done it with our kids since they would have loved just being able to walk on all those rides. We'd have gotten our money's worth for sure. It's a very tough call. I know the shows are nice, but DH and I are not "show" people, so we enjoyed doing the rides and seeing the parade and Wishes the best. It depends upon what else you could do with that $200.00 and if you and your family will be happy seeing "whatever you can" during the day. Also how busy the "day" is and the "party" is, and you really will not be able to gauge that until "the day". We also stayed until after the second parade to be sure we took full advantage of everything. Tough call, but like I said to begin with, you may not have the choice. We also went on the 4th.

My dh about freaked when he realized the cost, but it was well worth it! Dec. 4th was our 1st one, and I'm already planning next years! Ssshhhhhh...don't tell my dh!! ;)

I would definitely do MVMCP! We were there on the 4th and absolutely loved it. We saw the parade twice, once near the castle and once on main street where it was "snowing". The Twas the Night Before Christmas show was really great. We also enjoyed our free hot cocoa and christmas cookies. We have three young children and for us it was definitely worth the money we spent on tickets. Also, someone had posted about seeing the same shows in the park the day after the party. That may have been due to the taping of the christmas parade for ABC. They even had a special performance of the Christmas parade that Saturday at 5:00 just becuase they were taping it earlier that day. Well, hope this helps.

While we were there, we went 2 times!!!! I LOVED the party, and would do it again in a heartbeat. I wish we could be there right now, hope you have a magical time!

Considering that you can enter as early as 4 PM and stay until midnight, and the lines are generally shorter than at most other times, I'd say it's at least comparable in value to $52 for a one-day admission, perhaps even a better deal. There aren't many times when you can walk onto Big Thunder Mountain or Tomorrowland Speedway as we did on Dec 2, and that wasn't even during the parade.

On the other hand if you have had your fill of MK attractions, I would agree that it is not worth it just for the parade, shows, cookies, and photo.
