Is MVMCP worth the extra money?

If you say yes, what makes it worth it to you?

If you say no, why not?

Are the rides open during this time or do you just walk around?

Would my 7 year old son enjoy this?

The attractions are open.

Children and adults like it.

Good question.

We've done MVMCP for years (probably close to 20) and always thought it was worth it. But last year we didn't go simply because we were tired of Disney raising the price and lowering the standards/eliminating freebies over the years. Didn't miss it.

Our DGC are 3,4 and 5, and we didn't think we would be going to MVMCP for a few years. However, this year the Osborne lights are starting so late in November and our trip is earlier, around the middle of the month. We purposely planned this trip so the kids and their parents could experience SOME of WDW's holiday magic. It's their first trip that will have any Christmas decorations around. So, we're doing the party. If the 2 smallest ones can stay up, happily, for the parade at least, I think it will be worth it.

We still do it when we are there in December. It is a very festive party. It is pricey but I spend money foolishly on other things so the price does not bother me. If you have never gone, go, you will enjoy it.

We did it last December during an all adults trip. We loved it! Yes, it's a bit pricey but the shows were really fun, the ambiance was amazing and Holiday Wishes was spectacular. I would definitely recommend it at least once.

\Is MVMCP worth the extra money? Yes

If you say yes, what makes it worth it to you? Holiday Wishes, the parade, Holiday Wishes, the cookie and cocoa, Holiday Wishes, the Christmas-y atmosphere, Holiday Wishes, the shows, Holiday Wishes, snow on Main Street, and Holiday Wishes. Oh, and I almost forgot: Holiday Wishes.

Are the rides open during this time or do you just walk around? Most popular rides are open.

Would my 7 year old son enjoy this? I don't know. I've never met him.

Hmmmm.. was it worth it.. Well, yes.... No wait.. No... oh heck.. Maybe..

The crowds were horrible the night we went. Now the weather was one of those 'perfect' days, so it's no wonder if was sold out. So the crowds for stuff were just horrible. Not just the rides, the night before christmas showing, the parade, pretty much everything was just packed to the gills.. It proved to me that I would not enjoy WDW during a busy time.

BUT...

It was festive, the shows and parades were fun, the fireworks were very nice, it was snowing ;). It did feel very 'christmasey' even though we were in shorts, in florida.

Will I do it again? I just dont know...

We have gone the past two years. We are going again this year. We absolutely loved every thing about it. It is so beautiful, the atmosphere is great. The lines are long until after the first parade. We have already mapped out our route in the park to avoid the first parade this year. We are going basically for the rides. We are going to be in town for one night and there is a party that we can't miss. Yes, it is expensive...if you can afford it, go. Try it once.

Looks like I'm in the minority...I'd say no, it wasn't worth it.

There are soooo many "special holiday" things going on all over WDW - the Candlelight Processional, Osborne Lights, the resorts are decorated, each country in Epcot has its own holiday event, Santa hangs out in Epcot, the parks are decorated - it was a lot without having to pay for extra tickets.

The parade was good, but I liked the "Boo to You" Halloween parade much better. The ride lines were nice and short the night we went, but that's hit or miss depending on the night attend. The fireworks were good, but not nearly as good as the Pirate and Princess Party.

For me, I was a little disappointed - but I think it was because we had so much fun at the Halloween parade so I was comparing the 2.

For us, it was worth it...because we had 10 day non-expiry tickets and it allowed us to visit MK, while sleeping in one day and saving a day of park admission for a future trip.

Other than that, I personally wouldn't bother.

We didn't find it all that impressive.
We had a nice dinner at Liberty Tree, rode rides (Some with no lines, some with huge ones) and watched a few cute shows.

The fireworks were nice and so was the parade.

There is free hot chocolate and cookies, which some folks really get excited about:confused3. (They weren't like the treats the White Witch gave out in Narnia or anything out of the ordinary like that--just sugar cookies and hot chocolate.)

On a side note, we are considering the Pirate Princess party in March because we only have two days left on our passes. Passes are pricey for a family of 5 for a few days, and we aren't ready to splurge on 10 Day tickets again. We have a few other trips in mind now that the kids are getting older.

For this year, we plan on checking out Universal, but we can't see being near Disney without seeing MK, so like MVMCP, the P&P party will hopefully allow us to maximise our stay.

We enjoyed the Pirate and Princess Party, I think even more than the MVMCP. It's lots of fun getting dressed up and seeing people in their costumes, and the fireworks were absolutely spectacular. The parade - eh - but do not miss the fireworks if you go. And for us it worked out great because we have 1 boy, so no reason to spend time on princess stuff...got us around the park really quickly and we were able to see/do everything!

Thanks for the info...we're keeping our fingers crossed!

Thanks to all of you for the input. Still not sure what we will do.

When I ask if my 7 year old would enjoy it I did not mean "him" in particular. I know you do not know my son. I just meant do boys of that age in general like this sort of stuff.

I know I would enjoy it but the others in my group probably would not want to waste the money.

Thanks again you all have given me a lot to consider.

I haven't checked into pricing yet, but off hand, does anyone know how much it would be for 2 adults and 3 children?

I say yes do it if you have never done it before. We loved our first MVMCP it was so much fun and really got me in the holiday spirit. We have done it twice after that an while it hasnt lost the magic it just is so much money to spend when we have done it before...you can get the same holiday feeling without spending the money.

I would do it again if I can ever bring my nieces for around Xmas since they have never done it

We did it for the first time last year, and for some of the special memories we have from that night, I would definitely recommend it:

  • We took DD to BBB before the party started, so we have great pictures and memories of her all dressed up as Tinkerbell - so adorable!
  • After the first parade, the crowds REALLY dropped off (the torrential rain might also have had something to do with it, but that only lasted 20 minutes), and we walked right on to most attractions. This included Goofy's Barnstormer, which DD and I rode 5 times in succession, with a couple of those trips being just the two of us on the entire train!!
  • The Judge's Tent in Toonotwn was essentially empty of guests - we walked right in to see all of the princesses, and DD spent a full 5-10 minutes individually with each one. :cloud9: I still tear up when I think of how awestruck she was, and those pictures are priceless. This included seeing Belle in her gorgeous red and gold holiday dress, which we didn't see her wearing again for the rest of our stay.
  • Holiday Wishes was spectacular!
  • It really did get us in the Christmas spirit!

All of that being said, I don't necessarily think it's a must do again for a future holiday trip. It's nice to say we've done it, and we had a great time, but I don't necessarily think there would be any additional value added to go again, for us. I don't think we could top the first time!

I think its worth it if you have the money. (Even though i wasnt the one who paid for it.. haha!) When i was 12 we went and i had SOOO much fun! They give out free hot chocolate, theres snow on Main Street, rides are open, and they have parties with characters! I hope you decide to do it. Its a blast! :goodvibes

Are all of the attractions open during the party or just the same ones as during evening EMH?
