Is Mulan worth buying?

Mulan has got to be THE most UNDERrated Disney movie out there. The critics slammed it as being boring and formulaic and because of that, IMO, it's the last of the great Disney classics. Everything they've done since has been trying to be different and I think as a whole they've been woefully unsuccessful (with few exceptions). I would take "formulaic" when it's a great formula ANY day over the garbage they've been putting out.

Mulan is a great movie and it's sad how many people have never seen it. Most people who finally do see it wonder where it's been. It IS a great girlpower movie, but it's also about honor, loyalty, friendship, family (she is probably the only Disney heroine who has not only a mother but also a grandmother!) and finding your path in life when it may not be the easiest path.

It is a very enjoyable movie, but I have the original DVD and will stick with that for now

My 5 y/o DD never wanted it at first. I finally rented it for her and she loved it. She didn't want me to return it. I had a hard time finding it but did and bought it. She must have watched that movie everynight before going to sleep for two weeks. She still watches it. I have to admit it is one of my favorite Disney movies. I would definitely get it.

Very good movie... I wouldn't put it up with the true Disney classics, like Cinderella, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, etc, but still very strong.

I believe this was the first movie from the Florida animation team, which has since been disbanded.

I personally like it not just because of the girl-powered theme , but because it's based on a real story about a Chinese character. I like ethnic characters and I think this movie fills a need for media including other cultures ...It offers diversity in what kids see in the media.

I hope that makes sense.

Mulan is one of my very all-time favorites!! We just got a DVD player (I know...unbelievable, huh?) so we have to start building up the DVD collection, right? No better way than to start with a fav!
