Is Mousekeeping different at each resort?

I was told the mousekeepers change the sheets every 3 days at the values and mods unless you request that they be changed more often.
I guess it all depends on who you ask.

My sheets are changed once a week at home so 6 days is not unreasonable.

I change my sheets once a week at home as well. So it isn't unreasonable to have your sheets changed at a hotel every 6 days.

I use to clean hotel rooms when I was in college and there was no way I could clean 16 rooms a day. Even 10-12 rooms a day is alot of work. I am not sure how many hours a day mousekeepers work but 16 rooms could be the reason why some rooms aren't the cleanest.

Changing sheets once a week is not enough. That is just gross At the minium every 3 days. At home I try to do every other day.

Ideally, I would have clean sheets everyday, but it's more like every three days at home. I think every three or four is the absolute minimum that should be allowed in a hotel. I'm surprised that they only change them every six days at the values. eek!

Ok, so please tell me they change them in between guests?

You are kidding me right? I change mine every 2 weeks to once a month. They don't get that dirty that fast people!

Do they take the dirty bedspreads and blankets?

THey don't complain about the new bedspreads. Sounds like a good idea!

I ask for extra sheets always, to help protect myself, but was always scared to ask for the bedspread.

From a friend who used to work in mousekeeping at CBR...no, they don't change blankets between guests either. They are so busy ( their last contract upped the # of rooms they must clean to 16 per day...less in the deluxe resorts) that they don't always see stains or rips on the blankets or sheets. They get a list every day of the rooms they are responsible for and which ones are due for the thorough cleaning, meaning replacing the blankets and spreads. Per a mousekeeping manager at ASMovies where I had problems last year with the sheet-changing issue, they only change the sheets every 6 days " or if they're dirty".
I use tube feeding and it leaks a bit a night and while I try to put a towel over the area that sometimes drips, there were obvious stains. Not only that but my blanket and sheet were pulled up over a dirty kleenex and the towel itself. I had to ask twice to have the sheets changed, once by calling and once by going to the front desk. Finally a manager came to interpret for the mousekeeper there and to see what I was talking about. I pointed out what the issue was ( the towel, kleenex, and dirty sheets) and explained that I wanted clean sheets. The mousekeeper still didn't seem to understand why I was upset as she said she was following the rules of how often to change the sheets ( guess she missed the "unless they're dirty" part). . I go back to the resort for a rest daily and was disgusted to not have a clean bed. On another note I travel with a service dog which is always noted on my ressie. I HOPE they do a thorough cleaning after we check out and I always leave an extra tip. I worry about someone checking in after me who is allergic to dog hair that might be on the carpet. My dog sometimes gets on the bed to help me also. I can imagine the thoughts of a guest who pulled down their spread to see black labrador fur. ---Kathy

Hi Kathy - this is awful to hear! I would have them note on your reservation that you need sheets changed daily. Sheesh, you have enough to deal with - are you alone and having to manage your feeding tube?

This is an area that should be addressed because there are a lot of people with service animals so they should have some rooms set aside and do a thorough cleaning after checkout. Myself, I would take pet fur over anything from that other animal who walks and talks!

I fold up the bedspreads and put them by the door.

If I need the sheets changed I strip the beds and put the dirty stuff by the door for houskeeping.

I always leave a tip.

When we were just at the POP a couple of weeks ago, they had a notice posted that they would change the sheets every 4 days (which they did). Our issue with housekeeping was with the lack of thoroughness......on different days had to call down to request bathroom cups (they had removed the dirty ones and didn't leave any new ones), towels, toilet paper (only less than 1/2 roll on the dispenser and no extra roll provided!), and soap. It was definitely not the same person cleaning each day either as the beds were made differently each day (one bed we had a bed rail on it to keep DD from rolling out of bed)....one day the bedrail was removed for making of the bed, another day it was on with the bedspread pulled up, another day it was on with the bedspread just folded at the bottom of the bed. Each day different. :confused3

Okay, so to clarify things:

They only clean comforters or blankets when they notice they are dirty or every so often (what was the time line?), regardless of different guests using the room.

They change the sheets every 4-6 days. Do they change them between guests regardless of the 4-6 days?

Boy I wish the health department had a problem with this!

Industry standard is not to wash the comporters/bedspreads that often.

And truly I don't see the big deal. Simply consider it the same as a cloth chair in the room.

Take it off when you get there and dont use it. I would never use a hotel comforter for covering and can't imagine anyone doing so.

The sheets are changed after each guest as are the blankets. If you need more cover simply ask for an additonal blanket.

Asking for a new bedspread or comforter will simply lead to increase in costs to cover that service.

OK, after reading all of this, I spoke with DH. He is a little paranoid about cleanliness. Then I emailed WDW.
"Husband is concerned, has seen too many TV specials. . .
We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge.
How often do you wash (change) the bedspreads in the guest rooms? Is it
between each guest?
How often do you change the blankets? (I know the sheets are changed
often, but are the blankets also changed in between guests?)"

I know we already had some of those answers, but thought I'd ask them for clarification. .

Their response today, "Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

I contacted housekeeping at Disney's Wilderness Lodge for you. They
advised you can ask for fresh blankets and bedspreads on your check in.

Have a wonderful visit!" Then it ended with the standard, ask for help, from. . .
While this didn't answer the questions, it clearly said I should ask for more, leading me to the assumption that they don't change the blankets either. . .
