Is Mineral Makeup "Addicting"?

I just want to "second" your opinion. This stuff covers my redness like nothing else. I have very even skin with it. However, I also have the same problem with the circles. I did buy the Well Rested and it does nothing for my undereye issues. So, I've been mixing it in with my foundation so it does not go to waste.

Anyway, I have ended up using a cream concealer (my favorite happens to be from Sheer Cover because it's nice and greasy and my eyes are dry) but you could use any cream concealer that you like. Put that on first, then the Bare Minerals Foundation then the Mineral Veil. The circles are still there, but that is the best that I can do.

Christine, could you confirm whether this is the concealer you're referring to?

Sheer Cover® Duo Concealer and Brush by Leeza Gibbons - Item: 685-350

The description says its oil-free, yet you stated that what you use is greasy. I'm looking for something greasy that goes on smooth. Anything else will pull on my dry eye skin.

Yes, this is it, although I got mine in a starter kit and did not get a brush with it. I use my finger to put it on. Yes, I find it to be "greasier" than any of the drugstore brands that I have.

Let me put it this way--you know the concealers that come in the tube with the sponge applicator? Well these are "liquidy" and they don't cover well.

And then there's the "stick" style. I find these to be heavy and dry.

The Sheer Cover stuff is not as heavy as the stick, glides on pretty well with my finger, and covers MUCH better than the sponge/liquid stuff.

Even with ALL that, I still have some circles, but this is really the best I've found. I dread when I run out because I don't feel like paying a fortune for this stuff.

Hi Ladies.
I´m from Germany and work as a professionell Make-up Artist.Because of all this talk about BE,i got curious and after several attempts, managed to get a Starter Kit on Ebay. Not easy because most sellers don´t ship to Germany. But I found one and from my professionel standpoint, this stuff IS addictive.I´m slowly getting more stuff and will probably go broke next month in Orlando.Right after landing I will go to the BE Store at the Florida Mall. Can´t wait.I even used it on some Photoshoots and all the models were suprised, how nice it feels on the skin and how good it looked. My personal favourit is the Mineral Veil, great for Oily skin. So,thanks again for introducing me to this stuff(Although my Bank account doesn´t thnak you)
Lots of greetings from Germany from a new fan.

My mom and sister were visiting me recently and I put my BE on my mom so she could see what I was talking about. Not only did she love it...but my sister did too! My mom always complains about her foundation feeling icky on her face...but she loved this stuff. We hit the mall on their last night here and went to Sephora. They both took the plunge! My sister's birthday was yesterday...I sent her a "Glee" and she took the birthday money her MIL gave her and bought $100 worth of stuff online! It's taking a bit of getting used to for her, but she told me last night she really likes it...

I love BE...I need more of it! lol

Is it really as good as some of you say? I have been on the fence about this but my skin is a nightmare. I am 42 years old and I still have ACNE! Like I did when I was 13. I hate my skin. Would it help? Now I have wrinkles and oily skin. I would love it if this stuff was what everyone seems to think it is but it's so pricey.

This stuff is really the best! I have been using it for about 1 month now and I think I see an improvement in my rosacea - is this possible? I always looked younger than I am (thanks to good genes), but now the redness doesn't seem so pronounced - or maybe it's all in my head - who knows. Anyways....I don't think I will ever go back to liquid again. The only thing I wish, as I have said before, is that they make the wand mascara waterproof. I love it, but don't think I will be wearing it in the summer (I never go anywere without masacara - even the pool and beach)

I received my Well Rested. Its working better than the Bisque for my dark under eye circles, but not completely. I'm not sure anything is going to completely work as my under eye area also tends to look wrinkley, and sometimes puffy. I'm a mess. :confused3 I would imagine I'm an excellent candidate for plastic surgery.

I also ordered Mineral Veil but thats been on back order.

We were at the Florida mall the other day and I finally bought a BE starter kit and I really love it. :thumbsup2

The original Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals was marketed to dermatologists for their patients with sensative skin, acne, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery. That was about 20 years ago (maybe longer). Since then it has gone mass market but still received the endorsement of the dermotology profession. That being said I would encourage you to try it. QVC and the informercial offer are both 100% guarantee refund if you do not like it.

While it does apprear to be pricey I have found I have to buy it less often than the old foundation I used to use. A little does go a long way. I know they offer an auto delivery every 60 days but I just can't seem to go through it that fast. I am more like 90-120 days and that tends to equalize the price.

QVC is having a Bare Escentaul day on 3/28/06. Check it out. They will have showings (and training on use) from 3-5am EST; 9-11am EST and
6-8pm EST.

I just noticed your are in Ann Arbor - I'm up near Port Huron. I think if you check the BE web site I think NOVI sells it through Sephora. If not there Sommerset in Troy did. Go in and have them do a personal demo for you.

Good luck. I have been using this for almost 4 years and never looked back :Pinkbounc

Bare Escentuals addict here! Hi!!

I found BE about a year ago and now have drawers full of samples, colors, etc. It's so great.

Do any of the experts know which lipstick would go well with the Harp lip gloss? I love the color, but need it a little less sheer.

Thanks!

The Sephora store at 12 Oaks currently carries only a small line of BE products. They do not carry eye shadow, Well Rested, etc. but one of the employees said that they should be starting to get more in around mid April.

Ok, thanks to the disboards I am a new convert to BE. I just got mine in yesterday. I had gotten the mineral veil in the mail the day before. I also ordered a boatload of stuff off amazon. Eyeshadows, mod eyeliner a sephora eye pencil and something else I forget. Anyway I can see the benefit of bare escentuals. It is catching on to me. I am just getting the coverage right. I think things will be better from here on out.

Well, seeing how I run a Delphi forum called "Bare Escentual Addicts," I would have to agree with you! I was addicted the very first time I tried it! I can't imagine ever going back to liquid makeup.

I just found your forum a couple of weeks ago! I'm fairly new to Bare Escentuals, and I LOVE IT! My morning routine does take me a bit longer though. I bought several new products from the BE store at the Florida Mall when I was in Orlando last week, and orded a couple more things from another online source, tonite. Before long, I'm going to need a large case to store it!

Ok I bought into the hype and purchased the starter kit at Sephora. I must not be doing it right because I can't even tell I've put it on. It looks like I'm not wearing a base at all. I could get this look for free. Any suggestions?

I found the same thing. My guess is you have to have pretty good skin(which I don't) for this to look good. It doesn't do well covering rosacea.

Bought it and love it! It takes me about 1 minute to my makeup on now. I'm surprised by how good the coverage is.

Did you get the right base color? Are you putting enough on? I use a bit more than the DVD to cover my redness. I use a narrower brush to put on my red spots, then use the buki brush to put everything else on. I have really reddish skin, and am very pale. So, I use a mixture of the two fairly lights. Yes, it doesn't look like I have foundation one, but I love the "natural" way it makes me look. All one tone, with none of the heaviness.

I do NOT use mineral veil - can't stand the way it makes my face look. For me, it crosses the line of too made up.

REALLY?? I have rosacea (albeit not a horrible case) and it covers better than anything I ever used. Now, of course, it doesn't cover ALL day. If I get a "flush" it will show right through but it certainly covers all the uneveness I have in the morning. I'm very splotchy.

If any of you have seen the ads or been in the store, you might be aware that Physician's Formula (drugstore brand) is now offering their version of mineral foundation. I found it at Target for $9.99. It's a good amount of foundation and comes with it's own mini-brush that is about half the size of the baby buki brush that BE sells.

Bottom line on this: I was disappointed. The brush that comes with it is totally inadequate, so I ended up applying it with my BE brush. The coverage was not great (I have rosacea). As I was applying it, it ended up billowing up into the air rather than sticking in the brush or on my face. I guess the powder might be too fine. It wasn't horrendous, but really not worth the money. Also, I don't like the fact that they haven't come up with "line" of makeup for this. Where's the Mineral Veil? They are only giving you one step in the process. I love the Mineral Veil step to the whole thing.

This stuff will probably do okay for you if you have relatively great skin to begin with and don't need much coverage. I'd probably use it over a liquid.

I've been using my bare escentuals stuff for over a week now, and I have to say I really like it. I get a much more even skin tone with this stuff. When I used liquid foundation, I was always having to blot my skin--it was quite oily. Now, however, I don't have this problem at all. If anything, my skin is a little dry.

I have a few questions. My kit came with the "handy buki" brush. Should I get the baby buki brush also? It looks like it might be bigger. I need to use the buki to cover up my redness and acne marks.

I am also having trouble with the eyeliner. No matter how well I tap the brush, it seems that some of the minerals fall out onto my face, and then I have to redo the makeup in that area. I don't have time for that in the morning, so I've gone back to my regular eyliner during the week until I can figure out how to best apply the liner. Any ideas?

Finally, I am still looking for that perfect undereye dark circle concealer. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know!
