Is Mineral Makeup "Addicting"?

I went to Kohls today and they had their own powder foundation (the description was similar to BM/BE). Have any of you tried Kohls version of BM/BE? I am super curious about this one b/c its $15.00 (powerder foundation only).

I tried that before I got into BE - it was horrible! Coverage didn't work well for me and it made my skin feel really dry. Maybe it didn't suit my skin type - stuff works differently for everyone.

I'm waiting very impatiently for my first order of Bare Minerals! It didn't come today so I won't get it until at least Tuesday!

I finally got the BE starter kit yesterday! I went to Sephora to see the products in person and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I had to stay focused! I read some older threads, read the little instructional booklet in the starter kit, watched the dvd intensely and then swirled, tapped, and buffed. I've got large pores on either side of my cheeks and fine laugh lines. *sigh*.

I still love how the product feels on my face, so weightless. I itch a little bit, but I think its b/c my face has to get used to a pure product. I don't want to go full BE yet, as I still have to master getting the basics right. I love the Rever upper too (it was in the kit)!

So ya'll ready for the June TSV on QVC??? June 27th? Here's the show times

06/27/06 12:00 - 02:00AM BARE ESCENTUALS

06/27/06 01:00 - 04:00PM BARE ESCENTUALS

06/27/06 10:00 - 12:00AM BARE ESCENTUALS

I am so liking this product! :cool1:

I bought my mom the starter kit for Mother's Day. She really likes it but says that it does accentuate her pores. She has kind of large pores anyway and she feels like they are too noticeable. But she likes the makeup a lot.

I'm so glad this thread was resurrected.

I just want to thank you all who have shared info about Bare Escentuals. It is the best foundation that I have ever used.

I use the foundation, with the kabuki (best brush ever!) I also use it with the Clear or Rose radiance, glee, and mineral veil. It is so radiating and soft.

Thanks again for introducing me to this. :)

After reading this thread I went to Sephora and bought a starter kit and several other items since they come w/the smaller containers. I used it for our WDW trip and you guys are right. This stuff is incredible. It is so light:)!! I have used nothing but professional hair and makeup since I was 16. I was in cosmetology and was trained early to only use professional products. This stuff is great! I love the fact that you don't feel like your foundation is melting off. Thanks guys :)

And another one bites the dust.........

Bare Escentuals will have a Today's Special Value on Tuesday, June 27.

It's really a great kit (IMHO), and it's $44.98 (before tax & shipping).

The description says that it's nine pieces, but it's really ten.

taeja71 listed the show times, and I usually tape them because I'm still learning application tips. DH is really liking the results of my lessons, too!

If your mom can't watch the QVC programs on 6/27 record them for her. I don't have prblems with this but I know there is a tip to minimize your pores but right now I can't think of it. It may be mineral veil, foundation, then mineral veil again but I just can't be sure.

Also, if you go to the BE web site (www.bareescentuals.com) there is place for "contact us" or "ask us" and I am sure they would offer a suggestion or two.

There is also a BE forum (www.beaddicts.com) that would be happy to offer guidance.

I haven't had to adjust my glasses from slipping down my nose! I went outside so I was exposed to sun and some humidity and I don't feel any difference on my face. (I haven't checked a mirror yet). I truly am amazed at how great this product is even though my pores seem a little more pronounced. Besides, not too many people are going to stand three inches in front of me to notice. LOL :teeth: :rolleyes1

Can someone explain Clear Radiance to me? At what point does it get applied? After foundation or before? What areas of the face do you apply it - all over, on the cheekbones like blush, just on the edges of the face, etc?

Hi! I love clear radiance! I use it after I use my mineral foundation, blush and mineral veil. I use it on my cheeks and my eyelids, or a light brush all over if you want. It gives a beautiful deweyness to the skin! :thumbsup2

How is Bisque different from MV (the final/sealing step)?

AFTER mineral veil? Wow...I'm doing this all wrong. I was putting it on after the foundation and BEFORE my blush and mineral veil. I wasn't seeing anything noticeable as a result. Maybe this is why.

What specific product do you gals use from BE to cover redness?
On QVC they said to use the Clear Radiance, I have one splotch of redness on my cheek so I was just curious what everyone uses to cover this up.

I didn't like BE at first either, but then I kept experimenting with it, I think I was using too much and now I LOVE it. I've collected quite a bit of different products thanks to the QVC specials! I love the nude beach eye shadow...I never used eye shadow before, but this is just so natural looking and it lightens up you lid in such a way, I love it.
The True gives you a rain, dew look which is so nice to go out to dinner with in the enening. Your skin actually radiates.

I use the foundations with spf 20 in it over my moisturizers(natural advantage) which have spf in them too.

Then I ordered the Faux Tan liquid and it came with a large mineral powder for a final tan-like glow. I love it! An even tan with no sun, and it does look nice!

Anyone else try the Faux Tan? It really is better than real!

Bisque is a concealer, and a great one!!! Mineral Veil is a finishing powder, sets your makeup and just gives you a great finished look. I just got the tinted MV and absolutely love it!!!

ooOOHHHooo. Then, which bisque would conceal my red spots/ acne?
What about the tinted MV, does it add just a touch of color?

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now with all the BE info that's out there. Straighten me out all!

I've never shopped QVC before (can you believe it?). How does it work? Do you have to buy the items while they are being shown? If I can't watch during the posted times am I out of luck? I bought a starter kit from Ulta and am ready to buy some refills.

Thanks!
