Is Mineral Makeup "Addicting"?

Hi there! I am considering trying this makeup, even though it seems ungodly expensive and I have had such bad luck finding anything that does not just accentuate how dry and nasty my skin can be.

Anyway, I was wondering where you would get an introductory kit? I see that you can get one for $60 on both the manufacturers website and at sephora.com. They have different things in the kits and I am not sure which one is a better value/better way to start out.

Can anyone give me their advice, from the standpoint of someone who uses it?

Thanks!

I would get the one from Sephora. I really like the bare vitamins and this one also comes with the Kabuki brush. I have the compact (shown with the BE set) and I never use it. This is all you need to get started. You'll still have to use your own blush and eyeshadow though. If you decide to stick with it, you can always get those later.

Now supposedly you can get a starter kit on QVC. I looked and couldn't find it though. QVC's and BE are completely refundable if you don't like it (within a certain time frame). I would only assume that Sephora will take it back too, but you'd have to make sure.

I got mine on Wednesday! (I had it delivered Priority Mail).
I love everything except for the lip gloss. It lasts about 10 seconds on me. They say to use it often, which means a tube a day at that rate.

I have a hard time with lip gloss, too. I usually stick with a lip pencil and the buzz latte, anything else is kind of wasted on me. My orders show they shipped Monday and Tuesday, but I haven't seen them yet. Have fun with the new stuff!

If you are talking about the Fall in Love with your skin set QVC had, I received mine yesterday and I live in Alaska.

If not just ignor this;)

Yup, that is what we are talking about. :)

Yahoooooooo!!!!! I got mine and I love it so far!!!! Although I'll agree about the lip gloss, I'm just not to sure about it yet. The applicator is weird and it's not very shiny like most lip glosses. And the color is a little light. But it's different from all the other colors I have so I think I might just need to get used to it. The eye colors are gorgeous although I don't really have any other colors to go with them, so I think I'll need to buy some more. :rotfl: Ah, I still need to go try out the tote!

I agree with Beth76 and suggest the Sephora kit over the kit at the BE boutiqe stores.
I wanted to mention, though, that Ulta stores also carry the starter kits and BE makeup. I got my starter kit at Ulta. Mine didn't have a Kabuki brush though. I had to buy that separate. If you find a starter kit at Sephora or Ulta with a kabuki brush, get it.

I got my TSV on Tuesday. Mine is already sealed up and ready to ship back. The only thing I loved was that crazy eyeliner brush. I thought it worked great. I thought everything made me look way to orangy/coral. I'm blonde with green eyes and thought it would look better than it did but no, too much!! Even the glimmer was awfully glittery and I were BE glimmers all the time. I received it on auto delivery so I guess i'll take care of that before I forget. I think I'll do better to put together my own colors for the $99 price.

I am glad that many others are happy with theirs though!!!

Aw, I'm sorry you didn't like it. I will agree though that it's very glittery. I can see glitter on my eyelashes when I first put it on. Like actually on my lashes, not looking through the mirror. It's quite distracting until I wipe it off. :rotfl: But I really just love the colors. I actually need to get some more shadows to go with it. :rolleyes1

I have been using BE for about 5 months and I will never ever go back to wearing any other type of foundation. Ever since I can remember I've had bad skin. It's very sensitive, tends to be red and splotchy, and my t-zone has more oil than Iraq. I had finally decided that I would just never have a clear face, until I started using BE. I really think it helped to calm my skin.

I was in the grocery store today and I noticed that now Almay, Revlon, Cover Girl and I think Physician's Formula ALL have mineral lines now. Even though they're significantly cheaper, I won't give up BE for anything! I got my starter kit and re-fills through the BE website, but I get blushes and glimpses, etc. from Sephora.com, because the closest one is in Toronto until the new one is built in Buffalo! That place can't open soon enough!

That's too bad! Don't you hate when something isn't as fabulous as you anticipated? I'm green eyed and blonde/brown with a LOT of freckles and normally i would NEVER use peachy colors, but they ended up looking good. I am not a huge fan of eye shadows, so I haven't tried those yet, but I like everything else so far. Enjoy finding the colors that work for you!

I would be interested in seeing what the other ingredients are in those makeup lines.

Most of them advertised no talc, but I can't be sure. I don't think those brands have the quality BE or Sheer Cover do. The Cover Girl line just has a powder puff and no brush, and I think the Almay line is all in one in the brush. I believe you have to shake it and the powder come throguh bristles.

Have you all tried the Rare Minerals? I've wanted to try it, but it's pricey. So it's part of the reason why I got the TSV. I love it so far!! Now, I don't know if it's all psychological, you know Leslie says it will change my skin so it must!! But I think I did notice a change in my skin--after only two nights. I have pretty good skin (so I thought) but it looks and feels better now.

Can someone answer a question for me?

I recently started using BE and Everyday Minerals, and I will *never* go back to gloopy liquid foundations. Love them. I've been using them for 6 weeks, and have not had a single blemish ever since (this coming from someone who always had at *least* one pimple at any given time.)

However, my pores seem to stand out alot more...has anyone else noticed this? Is there a trick (or product) that will make my pores less noticible?
