Is Millionaire at MGM good for kids?

We have an 8 and 5 year old boys and was wondering if Millionaire would be interesting or boring for them? How long does this show last?

It lasts about 40 minutes, but can vary depending upon how the person in the "hot seat" is doing. When we were there last year, the host was saying how they've had kids as young as 2 win the "fastest finger" question just by pushing the buttons. LOL! Your children are young enough that if one did end up in the "hot seat," you would be allowed to go with them and help them answer the questions. If you go during "Star Wars Weekends," and your kids are Star Wars fans, they'll really enjoy it. If they're familiar with the TV show, I think they'd enjoy it, too, and usually the easy questions are Disney-related. Plus, the hosts always joke around with the audience. I actually ended up in the "hot seat" myself last summer and it was a blast. I never expected to end up there, of course, but it ended up being the highlight of our vacation. LOL! Anyway, you'll have to be the judge for what you think your kids would enjoy. It is like the TV show, but everyone in the audience has equal opportunity to end up in the "hot seat."

...seems to me to be about 7. We have gone for a few years, and our DDs 8&6 love the action, possibility of seeing yourself on TV, the audience interaction, and the questions. But for the game show itself and the ability to use the touchpad, it seems that 7 and up are able to "get it." 6 and below seem to need some help to understand the idea that the if you want the A answer on teh screen, you need to push the A button on the pad.

..and I can confirm that the people in the hotseat are very often kids (or others) that push the buttons in a series regardless of the question.
When we first saw it, a 6 year old was first in the seat. Last time, I decided to hit B-C-A-D over and over regardless...and ended up in the hotseat too!

The first trip we did it on my kids were 6 and 9, last trip they were 8 and 11. They loved it both trips and some of the ?'s were even geared toward kids. My son was thrilled to whisper an answer to me based on some disney movie! :teeth:

My son ended up in the hotseat when he was 10-and it wasn't just luck-he knew the order of the Miranda Rights (right to remain silent, etc.) He beat out a policeman who was sitting next to me! He did pretty well in the hotseat and won a bunch of prizes-including a Millionaire lanyard and a bunch of pins. So I say, yes, your kids will probably enjoy it. (If nothing else, they will get to sit down in an air conditionined room and rest).

My neice, 8, landed in the hotseat. She won the hat, pins and polo shirt. Me, I just got the hat and pins. :confused3 But I taught her all I know!! :rotfl:

MY 4yo DD really enjoyed it last Summer (even though she didn't really know how to play, she just copied whatever I did). She liked seeing the "real" ;) game show atmosphere.

We brought our DS when he was 4. At that time it was all about him pushing buttons--the last two times we were at the show, I managed to get on the top 10 list so it came more a "root for mom" thing. The rooting didn't quite work--I was #1 on the list just as the show ended. Oh well! For the 30-40 minutes you'll all be at the show, I think your kids will be fine.

My DS 9 loved it and he had never seen the show! He even did a "millionaire" game show project at school when we got back. My DD6 was entertained, but it wasn't by far a highlight for her. You should definitely go!

Well my kids like it because I seem to have a shot at getting in the hot seat--I've made it 3 times. First time they were 3,6 and 9; last time they were 5,8 and 11. Once they showed the girls on the "camera check" and they put the kids on last time I made it. I only got a hat the first two times but got a polo shirt the last time --made it to 250,000, tried to walk on the 500,000 question but the crowd wanted me to try, so I lost it--oh well--each of my kids has a hat.
So now in July they are already arguing about who gets to sit by me because they see what I'm pressing and they press it!

The first year we went to MGM we skipped Millionaire. Last year, my 9 yr old daughter was dying to go. The reason: She loved the Lion King 1 1/2 movie which has a version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". We did a game and everyone had a blast(even my hubby who didn't know anything about the game). Every night, we watch reruns of the Millionaire show to get in shape for our trip in May.
