Is Matt Lauer a Democrat or Republican?

Not that it matters since I rarely watch him, but I have his interview with Larry Craig on and was curious about his political affiliation.

For some reason I always thought he was a republican. I'm not sure why.

You know what? I'm happy I don't know. I'm tired of reporters who tell us what they believe in hopes of swaying the public. I'll take just the fact thanks.

With that said, I always picture him as a democrat.

I love Tim Russert and think he's probably one of the best interviewers out there. He is most definately a democrat.

Russert and Lauer, while they may not be "registered", are both on the Democratic side. Lauer VERY much. Russert is more reserved and does a much better job of "hiding" it and being more objective, but he definately skews to the left.

ok. Of all my years on the Dis I've never seen anyone else even mention Tim Russerts name, but I just posted on the "I can't believe I have a crush on....." thread.........and I listed Tim Russert!!!!




He's a great interviewer and I'd love to listen to him spill secrets about the Washington riff-raff.

Back to the topic.......I've always assumed Matt was Democrat, but like Robin said, it shows what a good interviewer he is that we don't know for sure.

It's probably because he sat next to Katie all those years. Now there is a REAL Democrat. She is one that you can definately see through as far as her political beliefs. I remember an interview she did with Bill Clinton and I thought she was going to jump across the table and start kissing him.

It's probably because he sat next to Katie all those years. Now there is a REAL Democrat. She is one that you can definately see through as far as her political beliefs. I remember an interview she did with Bill Clinton and I thought she was going to jump across the table and start kissing him.

Or how about when she kicked her heels off to RUN across DC to catch up with President Bush (the father) and she basically side smacked him with nasty questions about his knowledge of Iran Contra hearings and did so with the nastiest and smuggest tone. I thought she was going to hit him with a baseball bat. The poor man was just leaving walking out of his house with his wife, he thought it was a friendly visit. Yeah, you can read her political beliefs as easy as Dan Rathers. Of course that earned her all sorts of "respect" as a journalist. The fact she was so disrepectful to the President of the United States of America.
