This may sound like a stupid ? but is it safe to put a can of Lysol in your suitcase. I wasnt sure with the pressure if it would explode.. I have rubbing alchohol in the suitcase too.. but the Lysol is in a zip lock bag if somthing was to happen..leaving in 2 hours so im freaking out about this!

Lysol isn't a personal care product or toiletry item, unless people have started spraying it directly on themselves. It's a cleaner/disinfectant. People may have gotten away with it, but I wouldn't bother. Pack wipes instead.

If you read the list, it exempts personal care and toiletries. I'm thinking Lysol would be allowed under this category- and I've often packed a travel size of it myself.

Yeah, I've packed prohibited items too and TSA didn't get them. Just because you didn't get caught doesn't mean Lysol is not a prohibited item.

OP,you can pack it, just don't be mad if it is confiscated.

Oh yeah, I get that. I just wonder if it gets by because it isn't noticed or because there are differing interpretations of the rule. Besides, it allows toiletries and I use the Lysol on the toilet! :rotfl:

It's kind of like Tide-to-Go pens. They don't contain bleach and the packaging does not say the product is flammable, nor does any web source I've found say the product is flammable. Yet they get confiscated from 3-1-1 bags all the time. Why?

Seriously, this is one thing about TSA rules that makes me wonder who they are kidding. All aerosols are flammable, so hairspray is no safer than Lysol. So it seems more appropriate to put a limit on the amount you can carry than create a category that is allowable but open to interpretation.

I agree but first the TSA would have to actually think logically.

so - does this mean i can bring the mini travel size lysol in my 311 ziploc?

I always bring Lysol packed in my checked bag inside a ziplock. I never even thought about it not being allowed.

Lysol is not considered a "personal use item". You can't use it on your body.
