Is LeCellier over-rated ?

Yes, I feel it is 100% over-rated and have felt that way for a very long time. Le Cellier is a good restaurant, don't get me wrong, but it is not something to fret over if you can't get a reservation to. It appears as if its fame has stemmed from a lot of online sites like this one and I just can't figure it out. If you get in, great. If you don't, it's certainly not going to ruin your WDW vacation.

overrated??? probably....

We were there last month for lunch. We DID enjoy our meal, but we won't be lighting up the WDW reservation line to get another ADR. We both agreed our lunch at Chefs de France was better.

It is good not great and since I have always looked at LeCellier that way, it isn't overrated in my opinion.

I am dining there in May but if I didn't have a reservation it certainlly wouldn't impact my vacation in a negative way.

There are places much, much worse than LeCellier that are overhyped on these boards in my opinion like 'Ohana. That is the good thing about Disney, there are usually strong opinons on most restaraunts, very few are universally loved by all.

I'm glad you discovered the DIS; I now have someone on these boards who dislikes Le Cellier more than I do. I won't go as far as you do, but it's nice to have company. :lmao:

LOL, yes i'd be more than happy to have that title as the person who dislikes LC the most. :lmao: What can I say, im Canadian so im allowed to be picky about my steaks! LC gives the real Canadian steaks/steak houses a bad name!

The mushroom filet was an average cut of beef with what I would call an overload of salty Campbells Mushroom soup poured on it and sitting on a bed of Uncle Ben's white rice that they prefer to call risotto.

This! While I did love their BBQ maple-glazed filet, I had to settle for the mushroom one last trip and found it just as described here ... very bland!

I, too, think it is overrated. It is 'ok' but that is just it. Just ok. On an report card I would give it a C.

We have eaten at LeCellier for lunch back in 2007.
Very nice food.

But we have now read it is one of the hardest ADR's to get.

Is it because people on the meal plans get their highest prices meal for a TS credit for lunch ?

Has the food been improved in the last 3 years ?

Any idea's ?

Personally I thought it was overrated back when we ate there for dinner back in 2005. But it was mostly due to the service than anything else. I mean the food was good, but not good enough that we'd be saying to others "Oh, you HAVE to eat at Le Cellier"

Hmmmm so the new menu is really good? See, im a bit hesitant to give it another chance when there are so many other places i'd rather try. Particularly since my first experience there was blah!!!
I can't say you'll definitely like it much more now. Some people have gone there and don't think the menu changes are worth the price increase. Other people have gone there and loved the changes, including that Canadian and myself.

In my case, what I loved about the new menu were many of the non-steak improvements. But to those people who plan on ordering the same exact cheddar soup, filet, and maple dessert, then of course they'll be disappointed by the price increase.

And for the record, I hated my most recent meals at Le Cellier, including an awful lunch in January. But I'm so happy I gave the new dinner menu a chance - I've had 3 great dinners there with consistently good food. And while Yachtsman has never wowed us in the past, we're still giving it one more chance to impress us. It doesn't matter if we get steak or not - everything should be good at signature prices.

Only been once in 2008...thought it was good but not out of this world. now that it is 2 TS credits we won't be returning. Just my opinion :goodvibes

Its one of our favs, I have used dining credits and paid out of pocket. I happen to think it is fairly typical pricing for our home area so that may make a difference. Having to use 2 dining credits is okay by me. We would not cut it out of our choices.

We used to like Le Cellier, not so much for dinner (that was good, but not great), but for lunch. We had lunch there a few months ago and did not like our food. The burger was looking for was long gone and I'd take a McDonald's Quarter Pounder over what they have now. Le Cellier is off our list completely until further notice. Walk a little further and get a better meal at Rose & Crown.

I would not pay 2 credits for the dinner experience at Le Cellier. Being from Chicago and having the best steak restaurants in the country I find it just okay. Now I did eat lunch there last month and got the stable "Chedder Cheese Soup" and a Cheesburger. Both were good but not extraordinary. In 2009 at the Food and Wine Festival my husband bought a cookbook. In this cookbook is the Cheddar Cheese soup recipe. My husband makes it all the time and I think his version (more bacon pieces) is better!!!

I've had very hit and miss experiences at Le Cellier. In 2001 it was just okay, nothing outstanding. In 2004 it was amazing the service, the food, everything, one of the best restaurant experiences of that trip. In 2008, the appetizers were phenomenal, but the mushroom filet was so dissappointing that it colored the whole meal. I'll be there again in a little under the month for a late lunch, and I'm just going to have soup and another appetizer.

Overrated? Yes, highly. It's nowhere near the best restaurant on property (I don't even think it's the best in EPCOT), but it's one of the hardest reservations to get, especially for lunch. I would say that constitutes some degree of popular opinion overwhelming the reality of the place.

I'm not saying it's bad in any way. I've had a pretty good meal there, and I've had very good service there. I'm just saying that the huge hype and immense popularity are disproportionate to the quality of the eatery.

All of that being said, I've never used the dining plan, so the promise of a 1 TS steakhouse has never appealed to me as much as it would someone who is planning meals around point usage.

well, the question wasn't "does it suck" but "is it overrated." I don't think it sucks but I do think it's overrated. No way am I getting up before 6 AM six months from a trip just to book a reservation at this place. Maybe I think it doesn't suck because I don't order steaks. They had really good mussels.

it should be noted here that Le Cellier is only 2 dining credits at dinner. Lunch is still one credit.

I'm one who really likes it, especially at lunch. That being said there are several TS places that people rave about that I dis-like.To each their own!

Finally went last month. Hubby never wants to go we live in MI, says we can go to Canada. It was good, not great. Bistro de Paris is still my favorite.

I dont know if its overrated, but I love the mushroom filet. Im not a big mushroom fan, so I was surprised to like it so much. Other than that, there isnt anything there that holds my interest. Wish they had a bigger space to allow more people in.
