Is Le Cellier really that great?

I know I will be in the minority, but in one word (and IMHO) NO! It is probably the most over-rated restaurant on the planet.

I totally agree. Three different reservations, two bad meals and one that was just OK.

What makes it so difficult to book is its size: only 40 tables. Plus its only one credit on the dining plan.

Many other places to get good meals at Disney, so don't let this be a deal breaker for you. The best steak at Disney is at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

It's good but I don't think it deserves to have the reputation it does....frankly I like Chefs des France much more....but is IS still good, just not head and shoulders over other places

We just dined there last week for the first time and we will say it was good but not great. The filet was very good. We requested the mashed potatoes with it(which I thought tasted just like Chef Mickey's,which I do love) My daughter got the cheddar soup as her kids appetizer and I tried it because everyone on here raves it and I really didn't care for it at all. I felt so bad that it was wasted. The breadsticks were also just ok. I loved my chocolate mousse dessert and the kids loved their make their own sundaes. DH thought his smores were just ok. I think we would go again but you are right about people being right next to you . They seated two guys right next to us(it was very quiet in there, rainy day and 4:10 ressie) I could here them talking about how expensive the food was. They weren't on the DDP!!!

IMO, Le Cellier is overrated. The best steak I had in the World was not at Le Cellier--it was at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Do yourself a favor, get a ressie there (Gr Flor), you'll have a much quieter atmosphere, calmer place, and a better meal.

Oh, and the Cheese Soup--disgusting.

Hey creativeamanda....are you talking about the Grand Floridian Cafe or Narcoosees for a great steak?

It's a terrific meal, but not worth stress. A good time to try again is at the 45 day mark. A lot of people cancel when the money is due and things come open.

OH, SO OVERRATED.
The bread was not good at all. The steak was fine, but not worth having alot of trouble to get.
Did you try an early seating? How big is your party?
As previously stated, it is small. I don't know if there really are only 40 tables.
Enjoy your trip.

Le Cellier is nice, but it isn't worth a huge hassle to get in. Too many other good/fun places to eat at WDW to stress over LC.:earsboy:

We've been there 3 times, 2 very easy to get ADR's(for some reason). Last time we did not get ADR before had, but on a one of our trip days we didn't feel like going where we did have ADR, so we called on the chance we might get in and we did. ADR was around 5:45PM, not crowded inside, great meal (free dining plan rocks). Overall it's pretty good, but not worth stressing over - try for ADR's, if you get in great, if not (as others have said) so many other places to try. I do agree the beer/cheese soup was OK, but only tried it once - that was enough.

I have always requested the 1st dinner time frame and have never felt crammed in. We have eaten there during our last 4 trips to Disney and we have always loved the food. It is my daughters first dining request every trip. My family loves the new york strip and I LOVE the spicy chicken sausage appetizer and filet. They have taken the maple glazed filet off the menu and i don't like mushrooms so I am going for just my appetizer! I can't wait!:woohoo: It makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
We also love Teppan Edo at EPCOT

The food at Le Cellier is just OK. DH is big on steak and he was totally unimpressed with the steak at Le Cellier--no better than the steak he's had at Mama Melrose, the Rose and Crown, and Chefs de France.

Neither of us liked the "cellar" atmosphere.

We've been to LeCellier many times. The meals are good- but I agree that it's overrated. Now, they've dropped some items from the menu. So for all of the hoopla over it- I would go elsewhere. Yachstman is very good- we like seafood so for us Flying Fish and Narcoossees are much better. And easier to get an ADR for!!

1) Le Cellier is good.
2) Not great or wonderful, but good.

I agree with this. I did not like the cheese soup at all-I found it very salty with not much flavor to it. The mushroom filet was very good, but as good as any other quality steakhouse. Smores dessert was yummy.

What I do not like about this place is the atmosphere-it's a very dark restaurant and the tables are very close together.

I think it's worth trying at least once & you should decide what you think from there.

I think Le Cellier is good and has a few good options. However, it is not worth all of the hype it receives here on the boards IMHO. I prefer Le Chefs de France over it if I was eating at Epcot.
