Is Kali River Rapids like Splash Mt?

The poncho may keep your top dry (it won't though) but you really get soaked in your shorts/pants/skirt. You sit right in the puddle.

Sometimes, if you're really lucky, the seat is soaked when you get on.

But it's still lots of fun!

I sit out,
I hold all the stuff,
and watch cause
I have no interest in carrying extra clothes,
buying new clothes at Disney prices
or walking around all day with my undergarments wet.
Ponchos might keep your shirt dry.

Last time we were on it just sprinkled us even on the "big drop"....maybe just a fluke ride that time...we shall see :boat:.....:laundy:

I get soaked every time! First, I thought it's only the two people going backwards on the small drop. On our last ride, I was sideways to the drop and still got pretty soaked- just not as much as going backwards.
My kids love it- we just all wish it was longer especially with getting that wet.

If you are wearing sneakers- bring flip flops in your backpack. Leave your sneakers in the locker and change into the flip flops for the ride so at least you have dry feet when walking around.
We also schedule it as one of the last things we do at AK.

Let's look at this scientifically...
Given the rotational kinetic energy expressed in the formula below.

If we apply this to the raft and taking into account the mass of each person in the raft and the raft itself, then factoring in the water flow and the effect of the wind on velocity (both linear and angular)

So then considering the effects of inertia, we can come to the conclusion that there is a 98.5% chance that you will get soaked

We plan our clothes and shoes carefully on our AK day. Everyone wears Crocs or some sort of quick drying sandal that day. My husband and 2 sons wear their swim trunks and swim/rash guard shirts as well. I wear some sort of dri-fit shirt and running skirt. All the materials breathe well and dry quickly. Now, I go through once. MY DH and 2 DS go through the line to ride Kali about 4-5 times. Everyone is dry within about 15 minutes of getting off the last time.

No change of clothes needed.

FYI, Kali is also a ride we do in the morning so that they can walk through the queue so many times. We never have drying problems.

Wow. Thank you. I didn't realize a change of clothes may be necessary! Is wearing a poncho enough to prevent having to travel with a change of clothes for everyone?

My husband hates getting wet on rides so he wore a poncho on Kali. When we got off he was more soaked than me or ODS who did not have a poncho. So, no it won't always help.

As for extra clothes we never bring them. But we usually go when it's warm to hot out and it feels pretty good to cool off for a bit. We always seem to dry off pretty quickly.

My mom hates walking around in wet clothes. I'll never forget when AK first opened and we went on Kali. Sure, it was July and in the 90s, but we had to sell her on it. "You won't get too wet!"

She got soaked and didn't talk to us the rest of the day. We were staying off-site at the time, too, so she couldn't even leave and come back.

Is it like large amounts of water poured over your head? Or does it splash onto you from the sides? Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to gauge if it's right for my son. I see so many families with little kids on it, so I assumed it's not too intense.

Seriously, watch it on YouTube and all of your questions will be answered.

I put a few pairs of undies in our bag just in case we get that wet. For clothing, we always wear the quick-dry type of clothes and a poncho.

Beware of the cheap ponchos, though, as ours ripped and were too thin to handle the rush of water for those of us lucky enough to be in the unlucky seats....
