Is Kali River Rapids a scary ride?

If you have your back toward the one big drop, yes you will definitely get soaked (I can say from experience). We liked it and rode it twice in a row. But I would second (or third) the opinions that it's not worth waiting a long time to ride. Get there early in the day (we did the safari at opening then went straight to Kali, no lines at all for 2 straight rides on Kali. This was in early June) or fastpass it. It's far too short to spend an hour in line on it. I would also have to say that after reading the guide books I had built the ride up in my mind into being far more than it actually is. Still, the theming is great (queue and ride) and we liked getting wet.

Did you ride Kali?
You said you didn't like POTC because of the drop. That's me! I haven't ridden it since I was a kid because I hated the drop as a kid!

Is the drop really not worse than POC? I have avoided this ride (like RNRC, SM, TT, etc) like the plague because I have motion sickness and will not ride thril rides. I can say, though, that I have ridden Dinosaur in AK a handful of times with no real trouble. I do grip the lapbar like nobody's business on POC when I know we are going over the drop, but that is the only for a second. I'm also okay on Star Tours. Is Kali tame like this?

There are several drops, each one about the same as POC or maybe a little longer. The difference compared to POC is that the boat free floats and turns going into the drop, so you don't know if you will be going thru forward or backwards.
You can also see the drops coming.
If you are sitting in one of the seats that stays dry by chance, you may get just a little splashed. If you are in one of the seats that gets the wave of water after the drop, you will be soaked. You may get soaked once or many times on a ride. This is a picture of my DH and DD getting soaked with a wave of water.

They were totally soaked after that hit and they got 2 other waves of water on that ride.

Our DD was a bit nervous about some rides so we downloaded some video's from youtube and the like and showed her and she was fine, in fac more excited by the anticipation of going on the rides.

Kali is a fun ride that all our kids loved.
