Is it worth the switch?

We visit WDW twice a year (DVC) and stay for 7 nights or more when we visit. We are not park commando and have not been for a long time. We like to have a variety of meals - QS and TS in the parks, resorts and DS. When we stay at one of our resorts (OKW), we take a boat ride to DS, hop right over to the boat docked next to the one we got off and go to POR/FQ for dinner. It is worth the trip for us. It's a night out. We look for different selections. The same way TS restaurants cater to different foods (steak, burgers, Mexican), you will find different offerings at all the QS stops.

Don't over think it. I bet you will be back soon.

Did you price the Swan and Dolphin? It usually comes in at the same price as a moderate but has the same location as Boardwalk.

Enjoy— I hope you take the time to walk over to POR - it is my favorite Mod. I love the sounds of Dixie!

FQ felt too small and dark with not much going on to me, but some love that feel. FQ is actually my least favorite mod. But I’m sure if you view it as part of POR as a whole, using both of these resorts as yours, you’ll enjoy it.

Of course BWI is amazing , but money for other things is nice too. The boat ride from PO to DS is a huge benefit.
I’m sure you’ll have a great time wherever you stay, because it’s all Disney!!

I know you've made the switch to POFQ already, but I just wanted to "chime in" with my thoughts. $700 is a lot of money. I think you'll be pleased with your choice. If I were at the BWI for 3 nights and someone walked up to me and said "Hey, I'll give you $700 to switch to the POFQ." I'd say "Heck yeah!". My daughter works at Disney and I visit a lot. I typically stay at the monorail resorts because I'm MK focused and for various other reasons. My fave is the GF. That said, on every trip, my daughter and I set aside one day where we go to Disney Springs in the early morning, then ride the boat from Springs over to POFQ. We walk around the resort, have coffee and beignets, and then take the bus from POFQ to the MK, and from there back to my hotel. POFQ is a very pretty resort with a relaxing, yet fun, vibe. The boat ride to Springs is very enjoyable. The bus ride to the parks is easy and short. Food options are great - you've got FQ & Riverside side-by-side, and TONS of food options over at Springs, just a short boat ride away. Yeah, I'm with the rest of the folks who think you made the right call.

We love POFQ and BW! I would have done the same for the savings. We usually only stay at BW with rented DVC points, where in some cases it’s even cheaper than POFQ.

FQ is so nice though, really small but so pretty and well themed. The QS food is really good and Disney Springs is an easy boat ride away. Enjoy!!

Wait . . . you're not going to DHS or DAK? They're currently my two favorite parks. But you have only 4 days, so I see that you can't do everything.

I recently stayed at POFQ and really enjoyed it. You will too, and you'll really enjoy saving nearly $700.

I did, but my husband really isn’t into staying at a non-Disney hotel. I would be willing to try it someday though!

POFQ is an amazing hidden gem of a resort and definitely worth the switch. The boat ride to the springs with the beautiful settings of a quaint resort...

I've stayed at both many times. They are still Disneyfied, but not over the top. For me, there is no advantage to staying at a moderate over the Swolphin since Disney scrapped free parking, airport transfers and evening extra magical hours. The Swolphin has location, location, location. POFQ has ... well ... nicely landscaped grounds and a boat to Disney Springs.
