We will be going to AK on our next trip to DW. In your personal opinion, is it worth the time to take my DD (4) To Rafiki's Planet Watch?
I have seen some post that say it was good, others that say not so much. I was just looking for some feedback so I will not waste our time in the park.

My DH and I visited Rafiki's Planet Watch for the first time a few weeks ago. We had always skipped it before. The train ride was nothing exciting - you just see roads and "backstage" areas. We did enjoy the petting zoo part of Planet Watch - I think it's called Affection Section - but it took only 5-10 minutes to see all of the animals. We liked that we could have our picture taken with Jiminy Cricket there - we had never seen him out before. There are some other character meet and greets also; the day we were there they had Pocahontas and Rafiki in addition to Jiminy. If your child loves animals and you find yourself with some extra time at AK, I say definitely try it once. However, if you skip it, I don't think you'll miss it.

One of my family friends took their 4 year old to it and they LOVED it. The kid is really into animals and loved all the little fun facts that they learned there. If your kid is anything like this boy, I think it's definitely worth the trip over!

I think it is many times better for kids around 4yo than for adults. Hence why you get negative feedback on the net but my son didn't want to leave.

I went there recently on the solo version of my trip and watched a turtle get an operation on its breathing tube. It was interesting to say the least and I know I'll go back when I'm at the world again.

Yes do it, if you don't like it, it doesn't take much time out of the day.

But if it is a hit you will be so glad you did.

We love it!!

Agreed, with a 4 yr old, I'd give it a shot. All things considered, it won't be a waste of time if your kid likes it, and even if not, you probably only wasted about 10-15 minutes.

I should also mention that that's my experience with my little cousin (now 6 yrs old). Me personally, being 25...I just love the train ride, but I'm also a railroad enthusiast.:)

We went because we had fast passes for the safari and had an hour to kill. Our little girl LOVED it...sheep and goats...a llama, a pig, couple donkeys... Inside the pavillion was cool, too...CM was out with a big ol' snake and my kid got to touch it...

Well worth it, and we will be going back again next time.

We love Rafiki's Planet Watch, we have a 4 yr old DD and she is an animal lover so for us it is a must. Like many said, you take a relaxing train to the area and then there is a petting zoo section and then an indoor section. We saw a mouse having an operation and DD loved looking at the x-rays of animals. We were able to touch a snake and met Pocahontas, Rafiki and Jiminy Cricket with minimal lines (and in air conditioning).

I guess it depends on what you enjoy - my DD is not a ride kid and much more into the animal part of the park so for us - required visit each time.

We took my 3 year old neice and she loved it. She could pet and brush the goats and that kept her occupied for quite a while. She is an animal lover and I think she really liked it because she could touch the animals as opposed to just looking at them.

I took my DD there last year for the first time. She enjoyed it but we were rushed since my husband and son finished their stuff early and were waiting for us.

I'd like to go back to it and check it out further.

Little ones usually love it. Mine did...in fact, my 12-year-old, who was 4 the first time we went, still loves to go just for sentimental reasons. In his mind, a trip to Disney is not complete without a quick stop at the petting zoo.

We went because... well,... really there isn't a lot to do in AK! The kids enjoyed the train ride... most kids love train rides. There were also character greetings there which they enjoyed. Other than that we looked around at a few exhibits and took the train ride back. But it killed just enough time for us from the time we got FP for the safari, when we came back, it was time for our FP return!

Vets take care of the animals here behind glass so you can watch. Techs measure out food for the animals as well. A nice change of pace.

Both of my kids are animal lovers and yes they did enjoy the facts about certain animals (which took all of about 5minutes). The petting zoo was a joke. Very disappointed in Disney here. There was a brown cow and a herd of sheep. These are animals my kids can see everyday at the local vets office. Kids were disappointed and so was mom. Oh by the way one of my main reasons for going was to see Pochantis and she wasn't there:sad1: Oh well that the only bad thing I can say about AK love everything else.
