Is it worth getting the DDE card...

since we will be AP holder for one person in our room I was wondering if it would be worth it to get it. We are going June 11-18 so no holidays. Is it good everyday for lunch or dinner at the resturaunts or is it limited to just M-F at lunch like the AP 10% off.

We are going with 4 adults, 1 child and 1 (2 yr old) and are going to a few sit down rest.

Hollywood and Vine..can you use it with the Fantsmic Dinner Pkg Buffet
Chef Mickey
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree
Coral reef or le cellier

So it seems like it would be worth it..only problem is that we were not planning on buying the AP until we got there, but since we get there on a Sat. and they are closed at DDE we would have to get it ahead of time.

But she did say the faxed letter works fine without the card.

Any idea? We will not be going back for 2 years so it would be for this trip only.

Thanks

Mary

We saved quite a bit during our 5 night stay this month. I don't have my list with me so I'm not sure on your choices except for Le Celleir which is included. You save 20% off the meal including alcohol. We loved that because we ordered bottles of wine and it was included! The card is also good at many food courts and fast serve counters.

You must have the number on an AP voucher to order your DDE card in advance. My friends used the emailed confirmation with no problems.

The card is good at all the places that you mentioned except I am not sure about Hollywood & Vine. They accept it for regular meals but I do not think the Fantasmic Dinner package is included.

I think it would be a great deal for you. Once you spend 250 dollars, you have your money back right there and over 7 days/nights with 4 adults and 1 child (not counting baby who might be eating from your plates) you will definitely exceed that, by quite a bit I'd imagine! You could save as much as 200 dollars.

The only drawback I'd see in your case would be that you'd have to pay the bill (or your significant other, as you are entitled to two cards) so then it might be a pain trying to recoup the money from the other people. Of course if you know them well and/or they are family, that shouldn't be too bad. I don't know if the Fantasmic package is included. All the other restaurants you mentioned are included though I was a bit disappointed to see that most counter-service places are not on the list. With that in mind I'm hoping to engineer most of our lunches around the places that *are* included cause it will most likely kill my DH to have to pay full price when he knows we could be eating elsewhere for a fifth off! :rotfl:

Here the list of places included... http://allearsnet.com/din/dde.htm

Good luck in your decision. :goodvibes

Here are the participating restaurants from the Disney official site in the area reserved for AP holders. And yes, I think it will be worth the $50. You only have to spend $250 on meals to break even. Most of the restaurants are not counter service (except for AK) and it's pretty easy to spend $100 on a dinner for 2 with a glass or 2 of wine.

I hope it's okay to post this. If not feel free to delete it, mods!

I purchased the same card after thinking long and hard. It will cost me the $50, but with myself and two boys (13 & 14) the 20% off and the other discount (WOD) we will save some money. We are going for 9 nights, and will do a few character meals and ohanas so we will break even prolly 1/2 way through the trip. In addition, it gives me another reason to head back before the year is up to save more! :cool1:

I think I may get it, in only 2.5 meals we will break even and I love discounts. So it seems that it is good 7 days a week for dinner and lunch so it would work out well.

Anyone know if it is good at Hollywood and Vine for Fantasmic Dinner pkg.

Thanks for all the info.

H&V $98.95
Crystal Palace $119.95
Liberty Tree $102.95

$321 before Le Cellier and you're $15 ahead.

So it seems like it would be worth it..only problem is that we were not planning on buying the AP until we got there, but since we get there on a Sat. and they are closed at DDE we would have to get it ahead of time.

Do yourself a favor and buy the AP now. It's too much of a pain to try to arrange for the DDE card once you're there.

I figured our dinners would save us about $133 and it only cost $50 so I say lets do it. Any money saved it good for me. Have to talk to my mom about it since she is the one getting the AP card. There is only one dinner we will not be able to use it...My mom and brother are going to Chef de France and I am going to Germany...so they would use it.

We just got back and used our DDE at 6 sitdown meals in 6 days. It was definitely worth it for us. I ordered my card in January and it arrived in about 6 weeks. I was able to order the DDE card before I had received my AP voucher. I'd call to see if you can do that.

We made back the cost of the DDE card with our quick trip in February. Now, we're going back next week :earseek: and again in June so even if we don't go again this year we've already got a bargain!
