Looking at a first ever cruise for our family of 7. The cost difference between a 4-night sailing and 5-night sailing is a minimum of $2,000 for all the dates we could possibly do. I'm even looking at the cheapest date options available for every itinerary we want. I have seriously looked at just about all of them. Is one more night really worth that extra cost?

I've looked from now until Sept 2027. We want to stop at both Cays, so those are the itineraries I have priced. Not sure if it matters, but I am specifically pricing out two Oceanview rooms as my husband and I are super prone to motion sickness, and (based on all the info on the web for best room location) I like the idea of a window on the lowest deck, midship. We went on a week-long cruise just us two 14yrs ago and he felt awful the whole time. We have been suuuper hesitant to try another cruise, so this would be a big step. 😂

$2k in comparison to what? If you’re saying it’s going from $2k to $4k for one more night then no, it’s not worth it. If it’s going from $10k to $12k then it seems pretty reasonable for an additional night.

I wish it was only $2k or $4k!

Family of 7 needing two rooms, so it’s more like going from $7k to $9k.

I get the per night cost is close to what this difference comes out to, but I guess I’m also looking at the fact that this is a first cruise to explore if we would even like/ be able to tolerate the motion. Is a 5nt that much better?

If you divide it by the cost per day per individual, Day 5 costs an extra $36 each

Basically - per person costs:

Nights12345
4 nights$250$250$250$250
5 nights$250$250$250$250$286

Both cruises have short days the first and the last. Adding the 5th night actually gets you another full 24 hours on the ship. And that’s in the middle of the action which is the most valuable time I think. So the cost seems in line.

Having a similar issue here for over Easter! 2 adults, 2 kids, verandah. $3300 for 3 nights or $6600 for 5 nights. Only dates we can travel due to my kids’ sports commitments. We did a 3 nights in March 2025 and it was too short, and a 4 nights in August 2025 that was much better length wise, but $6600 is pushing our budget. I think it is a good price for Easter though, we just have lots of upcoming travel for sports. Ugh!

If you’re going from 7k to 9k then really that extra 2k is in line with the pricing for the four night. You go from three full days to four full days. Five nights is really the shortest cruise I will consider as anything shorter than that feels too short.

You also have an extra day of tips for 7 people

There’s a patch that you can get from your doctor that may help with sea sickness.
