I heard Delta had filed bankruptcy and were doing away with some flights. They are offering a flight out of birmingham nonstop that would be great for us but I don't want to book it and then them cancel and me have to start all over.

What is everyones opinion of this?

Thanks

We are flying Song (run by Delta) and I say you should book the flight. They did change the flights we originally booked right after the filing but were very happy to change me to better flight times than the ones they moved us to without charge. Delta did change some of their flights but I'm of the opinion that they won't be closing down their doors anytime soon. That seems to only be happening to the smaller, lesser known airlines. Delta has been very accomodating to everyone since the filing and I haven't read any real complaints except for some flight changing.

The conventional wisdom is that since US Airways didn't cease operations, none of the major airlines will. Instead, each will seek sponsorship from the government (in United's case, it came in the form of the government taking over United's pension liabilities), and will have such requests granted. They may change their service, substantially, but they'll likely still be flying.

Just heard on the news that Delta might eliminate SONG. They will make an announcement in the next few days.

Where did you hear this? They(Song) just added more flights at LaGuardia to Orlando just this past week.

Hello OP from Montgomery, AL. We are driving to BHM to catch this afternoon non-stop flight to MCO in December. The only thing i can tell you is the one we are taking was originally supposed to leave at around 6 pm. Delta then changed it to 3 p.m. then changed it to 3:30 p.m. Just be sure you plans are flexible and you can really leave anytime that day. We are praying they keep this afternoon flight as it would be difficult to make it in the a.m. since we're planning on working the morning of departure and have to travel to Bham. Good luck and hope it works out!

Thanks for all the info. This board is great.

From what I read, it looks like Delta will just not be operating Song separately...not necessarily eliminating all their flights, etc. but just absorbing Song's operations back into their own.
